reloading 30-06 and 243....good powder for both?

Hi, i'm new to this site ,,,I've being reloading for about 35 years on a variety of calibers , my pet calipers for hunting is the .30 cal and I have a Winchester stainless bolt with a 22 inch barrel with a 3x9x40 leupold ,my best load is....165 Nosler Partition spitz. with 65gr of r22 powder winch case , seating depth .370 .025 from the lands ,no crimping Federal 215 Mag primer , velocity checked at 16ft from muzzle reading 2890 fps and....LOW signs of pressure at primer ,low case stretching and trim to length .008 every 2nd reload , grouping from 1" to 1-1/8 at 100 meters ( 109.3 yards )( a bit tighter on cold days )dropped 8 bucks from 75 to 220 meters all with 1 shot through the heart,if case some of you a struggling with a "06 load...you might want to give this a try . good luck .

You trim .008 every second firing? Say it ain't so.....
 
Try 54gr.IMR-4064, CCI 200 primer, with the 150gr. HSP, you might be surprised, then again you may not!

That is a pet load that I have used for about 50 years in multiple "06's", along with 7-8 other guys that know about it through the "old man" who originally loaded it.
That is a max. load from an old Speer manual, best to work up to it.
 
I've loaded both with IMR 4064 over the years. Always been happy with the results. Both of those calibers were used for hunting deer. Never shot just paper or varmints with them. My 22-250 & 6MM work very nicely with the IMR 4064 also. Rudy
