... "Well it was there when I came here, so I left it there." I told him to weigh some and I would call him back - a few days later, I called him back, and asked him. He said they will take the warning out in the next edition - I asked when will that be, and he said "About four or five years".

Gen Custer said, "Don't change nothing until I get back from the Little Bighorn." And they won't.

Actually, I don't give a crap about what is your business, or what you ask - I NEVER directed any of my comments to you.

I was commenting to Ridgeline17 and Old Turtle.

So... "Hey nocternal, it's my business who I talk to and what I say to them on this forum!"

"Catshooter" you are right. In this day and age they are the same. Some ammo companies have put scare notes on some 5.56mm ammo. Brass cost a lot in making cases. So they make them as thin as they can. Heck, Hornady is making steel cases. It is cheaper.

Some people reload NATO rounds, 0 with a +. I do not reload 5.56mm but I do load 223rem. Hey, Catshooter I would be scared to shoot some my 223rem's in my AR-15. LOL

Willy... I don't think that Hornady is making steel cases - I think they are getting the steel cases from eastern Europe, same place as many others.

PRVI Partisan uses steel cases in most of it's ammunition and it's real junk... speakin' of which - the last place I worked, we got in 20,000 of PRVI Partisan 9mm 115gr hollow point bullets to load - I don't know where or why the buyer bought them, but they showed up and we were stuck with them, and we paid top money for them (.13 each) So I loaded the first test run and we fired them into ballistic jello (we used Perma-Gel), and at 1025 fps, the jacket peeled 2/3ds back but the lead hollow point core looked brand new

So we ran the velocity up to 1150, and the jacket fully separated, and you could see the rifling impressions on the lead core, but the hollow point "lead" core looked completely untouched - like it had been dropped in water at 10 fps.

About the core - we had it tested and they make the cores out of salvaged lead - mostly wheel weights and other unidentified scrap - it is hard as nails.

We jokingly called it, "Our hollow point armor piercing ammo", and figured that the ATF would be on our case for making Armor Piercing pistol ammo without the special license.

The message is - that eastern European stuff is pure garbage.

.

"I should of said they are loading them". Willy

Catshooter,I asked a simple question. I didn't ask to be ridiculed about research and "do you know how many times this was asked". If it bothers you that people ask this question to many times why do you read them,I don't get it. Or,you could start your on thread called "why I hate .223 vs. 5.56 questions". Let's face it anybody could find there answers anywhere on the net through research, but asking here is what keeps this forum alive.

But that is also why there is the Search Engine at the top of the page. Alot of questions can be answered from that. If you can't, then ask. Nobody is ridiculing you.

The purpose of these threads is so people (like yourself) can learn things - hopefully, you learned a "lot" on this one.

WOW !
I am no expert and have only had a AR.223/5.56 for a few months now. It is a RRA and is chambered to shoot either. I have been buying LC surplus 5.56, shooting them and then reloading cases with RCBS .223 dies, to make my hunting/ tack driving ammo. I was told to look for high pressure signs by someone, don't remember who, but have not seen any issues.
One question I do have as I am writing this (and no I am not getting out of typing to use the search engine) what is the real difference between Lake City and Federal stamped brass? My guess is nothing but as I said i am new to this caliber.

"... what is the real difference between Lake City and Federal stamped brass? "

The name on the case head.

Oh I did. I still don't understand why you chimed in if you have no interest in answering the question.

Well my friend, I know you are challenged in the research department, but you may want to research "CatShooter". When someone like yourself asks a question about a reloading related subject, and someone like CatShooter gives his advise, you may want to sit up straight and pay attention.

Do you think that all people on any given Forum are about as ignorant as you in the subject you ask about. Do you think that it is some kind of support group for folks who have the same problem as you?

Fortunately here at PM we have some very knowledgeable folks that respond to threads like yours to help you. Here is a lesson about one of the better respondents on the Forum here called CatShooter. He does not have to spend his time here, or respond to silly questions, but he does all the time. It is free and I would take it for what it is and go on. He has 5000+ posts because he likes to have a good time, and help people along the way.

Cut the "Big Cat" some slack. Swallow your pride, and educate yourself. I am only trying to help you understand how to learn on the web. You have found one of the best sites to have fun and learn. Research, research, listen and learn.

Best of luck.

It has nothing to do with pride. Your saying everybody should research there question be for reaching out to this forum? I just wanted the question answered that's all. And I'm not questioning his expertise. Don't put words in my mouth. I'm sure he knows a thousand more things then I. Therefore I would haved liked "his" expert opinion .

Well Son, let's not get emotional. Yes on This Forum you should research before you ask. We go through a litany of topics and have great discussion about them. You can often find your answers there before asking, or you will be enlightened and be able to ask a thoughtful question, as a continuation of an on going topic.

Pride right now, is your biggest problem. Set that aside and start to learn what you set out to learn. Lashing out at those who can teach you is a sign of rebellion and immaturity. No one is putting words in your mouth. You are positioning yourself for a fight, a fight that you will loose. Don't do that.

"He" already gave you his expert opinion, and still you find some way to reject it.

If you want to get along, then go along. If not, well....

Again, best of luck.
