Rem 11-87 super mag or Moss 935?




Remington 11-87 is my choice. Parts or service from Mossberg are hard to get. I have two Mossberg 500's, my gunsmith told me just hope they do not break and need parts. Remington parts and service is much better. I have a Mossberg rifle I am still waiting parts ordered two months ago. My friend has an 11-87 turkey gun and it is a turkey killer.
 
My last experience with a Moss. was a friends of mines. We live in El Paso, a desert with 0% humidity. He Cleaned and oiled his shotgun everytime out. The thing started rusting within 90 days of owning it. I kept telling him to call Moss. on it, but he never did. Left a very bad taste in my mouth, may have been a one off, I dont know.
 
I own a Mossberg shotgun (500) and hunt waterfowl 3X per week and have experienced ZERO rust. I abuse the shotgun, cleaning it once a season. So, yeah, call Mossberg on the rust issue.

That said, I have ever shot a 935 and the 11-87 is well represented with aftermarket products, if that's your bag.
 
I have a 3" 11-87 that I have been using about 18 years with no problems.

Unless you are going to be shooting at ducks and geese with steel loads quite a bit I would not get the 3-1/2" 1187.

Well, I am going the other direction:

935

Overbore: Better Patterns with just about everything
All Steel Piston: No O-rings
Trigger: Can be completely disassembled by a near novice and reassembled and still function, no special tools required

Only downside is that it may not cycle 2 3/4" loads to begin with and slugs are a no-no.

I have an 11-87 SPS Supermag that I wouldn't give away, biggest pile going. I can get it to run, but I cannot keep it running for a full season. Other than 2 firing pin issues with 2 different 935's(and they still were chugging away, just had started to mushroom), never a hiccup
