I have just posted on "which 17hmr" that I was having trouble with ammo jamming in the magazines. The mags are alluminum which are better than the plastic but they are still a piece of junk. Does anyone have any solutions? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

The 597 is an interesting animal. Some love 'em, some use them for door stops. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I would take a trip over to www.rimfirecentral.com and have a look around. A LOT of rimfire knowledge over there, and all-in-all a great bunch of guys. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I feel sure that you can find an answer to your problem from someone at that site.

Just like any other piece of equipment, they need to be taken apart, cleaned and a light oil application will get them back to work. I have to do this about every 1500 rounds or so. They pick up alot of powder residue and being aluminum they are not slick like steel. The bottom plate plate pops off and the rest will come out. I have come to the conclusion that I'll stick to tube magazines on rimfires from here on out. If I can't get it done in 12-15 rounds then it can't be done.
