Anyone got any info on these? Looking at one in a possible trade? It looks like a regular BDL, just has a varmint profile barrel. Thanks. I'll do some searching in the meantime but it's one of those spur of the moment type deals so looking for info quick.

Is that the one with the huge bull barrel? If it is, I've seen those fetch a premium price.

I had a 6MM years back, my home was broken into and it was stolen, what a dark day, but the gun itself was accurate right from the box with factory ammo and a so so scope, needless to say with a late 80s Remington BDL it passed the eye test.Originally Posted By: MoYoBombergunbroker.com usually has several. 6mm Remingtons bring top dollar.

Whats the chambering??

I haven't got to see the rifle in person yet, guy left out today for vacation so hopefully I'll get a look at it next week. All I know is it's a Remington 700, BDL, wood stock, 24" varmint barrel in 22-250.

He would have it a long time around here for 700. A local smith tried to sell a 6x47L on a ruger stainless action and a laminated stock for several months before giving up.

Currently has a ruger 77 tang safety 220 swift up for 650.

If your looking for a great rifle for shooting colony varmints, you can't go wrong. I bought one, a 700 Varmint Special, new in 1978, and it killed every groundhog I pointed it at. If I could see them, it would kill them. When it came time to start hunting coyotes around here about 20 years ago, it also killed coyotes but was way to heavy to carry around. Traded it for a sporter weight 700 BDL in .243 and haven't really missed it.

I finally got around to seeing the rifle today. Its in really good shape overall with only a few minor depressions in the wood. The bluing was nice and even on the action and barrel. The barrel was truly a varmint barrel, it looked thicker than the barrel that came on a SPS Varmint I had. The bore was shinny, the rifling looked good, and the crown was good. The stock had what appears to be an early fluer de lis pattern instead of the standard checkering. Bolt was smooth, trigger was nice, safety works as it should. It has a simmons 8-32x? AO varmint special scope on it, but I'm not really interested in that. I dont really need a 250 though is the thing, I have a .222 and .223 in bolt guns, and a .204 and two .223s in AR platforms. I do like the old 700s though and Ive never saw one like this in person. I guess I could always get another Kimber later. Help me decide.

I would have to say I would do the trade. You can get another Kimber any day of the week. 500 would be an absolute steal on this rifle. They don't make em like that anymore.

My buddy has the same rifle-beautiful and a great shooter. I have had the same model in .243 for over 30 years and it has taken lots ot antelope-priceless. I just saw a .222 at a gunshow for $950. Basically you can't go wrong and they look good!
