Rem. 700 LR 25-06 Load Assistance

Hello! I just purchsed a Remington 700 Long Range 25-06. I have a few pounds of H4831SC and plan on shooting 115 Bergers. Anyone having any luck with this load? Does anyone have to know what max load is? I have a few manuals but am having troubles finding anything on the Berger 115 VLD with this powder. Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I shoot a 25-06 and my powder of choice is also H4831 w/ a Reminton 9 1/2M primer. My velocities got much tighter when I switched to the mag primer. However..........

If you have a 1:10 twist the stabilization of the bullet won't be as good w/ a 115 as it would with a 100gr Sierra.

YMMV

Per Berger Max load for their 115vld is 54.3 grains using H4831SC. My buddy has good luck with 54.0 grains says he's averaging groups of .470 or so. Sorry, but I don't a recommended starting load, my buddy neglected to tell me that.....ooops.

I have had good success with IMR-4350 (49.0 grains) with the Berger 115's, Federal 210 primer in Win. and Rem brass. It will run around 3100 fps. OAL of 3.33, which won't feed out of a 700 magazine well, but fits and can be fed slowly or single fed at the bench. This is a near jam, or just touching in four Remington 700 factory chambers. Starting load would be (45.0 grains).

I can't think of a better hunting cartridge then the 25-06.. it's just such a pleasant cartridge to shoot in my opinion. Although I don't hunt much anymore ( due to laziness) ..my 25-06 is used for target shooting..haha..I use nosler brass, h4831sc ( I've gotten remarkable results with it) Remington 9 1/2 primer, Sierra MK 100 gr. Bullets.
Her is a 5 shot group shot a 300 yrds. With my Ruger Hawkeye rifle.

This rifle had some work on it by me..I installed an after market trigger, pillar bedded the action, and installed a tubes speed location firing pin.. I like this rifle alot. I've often thought of have a custom 25-06 rifle built just to see what this cartridge can really do..but I have to many other projects in the works ..

I have a TC Venture 25 06 I shoot a 117gr SST with 50.5 gr of RL22 rem brass and win primer.

A 90 gr kghp imr 4831 53.1gr same as above. Both shoots great groups.

I am loading 53 grains of H4831sc,117 gr Hornaday SST, Remington 91/2M primer in Remington brass . In my Steven's 200 I get about 3/4" groups.

R#25 with a Fed 215 will get you 3200+ with that bullet with ES less than 10 fps. My load with H4831 is around 3000 fps, for comparison.

Use Winchester brass, much toughter, and Federal is soft.

Thanks in advance! [/quote. Why don't you contact Berger. They are very helpful and I'm sure you could get some great recommendations from them. I'm in the process of switching to all Berger Bullets. It's kind of hard when your rifle shoots great with other bullets though. H4831 SC is hard to beat in the 25/06. Try some 75 gr V Max or 85 gr Nosler B.T. for Varmints.....
