Rem 700 VLS 22-250 Shooters

I have a Rem 700 22-250 SPS. 1:14 TR, 26"hvy bbl.

I dont know if this will help but for what its worth, here is my current pet load:

Winchester Brass
CCI Lg Rifle Primer
34gr. Benchmark
55gr. Nosler BT
.6 MOA @ 100yds...no wind.

I have worked up a load for the 60gr VMAX. Using the same recipe except w/32gr of Benchmark.

.75 MOA @ 100yds with a 20mph cross wind. I need to see how it does at longer ranges to see if it is stable or not out to 400yds......if it bucks the wind better than the 55gr pill. I am sure it will. Hope this helps. There are many other folks that may have a better load. I have only been reloading for 18 months and still have a lot to learn. Happy Reloading.

I have a VSSF II in 22-250 and I use:
Remington brass
Federal Large Rifle Match primer
35 grains of Varget Powder
52 grain Sierra Match King.

Best 5 shot group has been .24 at 100 but averages around .4.

My load is about the same as kdad73's. I may use 26 grains, and I shoot a Tikka Varmint. Oh ya, I shoot Bergers. I guess its about the same. Close Kinda! But they shoot good!!

I have had a dozen + of these rifles. Win 760 with a Fed 210 primer with a 50g or 55g Bullet will give velocities in the 220 Swift range with amazing accuracy.

For hunting yotes I used the 50g Sierra Sp, 55g Sierra Sp, and the Sierra 55g BTHP & 55g Hornady Sp(cheap bullet) are the toughest.

Your rifle will have a critical seating depth that it likes, usually .003-.005 off the lands(but not closer than just barely touching).

I also had great luck with yotes using the 55g Nosler Ballistic tips.

Be sure to get your gun bedded, helps greatly in accuracy.

De copper your rifle every 20-35 shots until you get a few hundred shots down the tube and may I suggest to you to get some Monatan Extreme Copper killer for copper solvent...copper will be gone in 15 minutes.

The fastest velocity with extreme accuracy I saw out of a friend's rifle just like yours. He was shooting Win brass, Fed 210's, Win 760, 55g Nosler Combined technology bullets. The coatings allowed the pressures not to build as fast, and he was shooting 1 1/2" groups at 400 yards with a 8-32 Burris Black diamond scope.

Good luck!
