Rem 700 with PPC bolt face?

204 AR

Is there one out there? I'me kicking around a 243lbc in a 700, and is there a bottom metal conversion for using AR mags?

I've been into the AR's for so long I'm way behind on bolt rifle technology.

AR Magzine metal is available I believe.

Look here: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2015/03/run-ar-magazines-in-your-rem-700-bolt-gun/

Any good gunsmith can take a 308 bolt and bush it down for PPC it is done all the time for benchrest.

Thanks for the info. Do you think such a beast exists out in the wild already? Would this be something Ritch would be interested in doing? It's not in the near future, but I thought it seemed like an interesting idea.

I'm sure someone with time and $$'s has done one.

Ritch might consider it only with the Remington switch barrel set up if you just have to go AR magazine. He could facilitate the set up for barrel and bolt face. Me? I'd build a Savage and massage the magazine or get a CZ 7.62X39 and get s cutom turned barrel. I bet someone like Calhoun could lend some knowledge there.

There's at least one out there that I know of for certain...I have done it, but I didn't "bush down" a 308 bolt. No, I opened up a 223 bolt and then installed a Sako style extractor. I then used a 243 follower, spring and magazine box...it fed fine with some very minor adjustments. I wasn't really following anyone's lead on this, so it may be totally wrong, but it sure worked great. Made the most sense to do it this way to me...again could be all wrong, but it worked and the proud new owner says it is still working.

Just get a CZ Carbine (7.62) and rebarrel it.....

CRF and single stack magazine will feed any PPC case and you get the set trigger....no muss no fuss.....

Thanks guys. All projects are on hold, just in case the cuts the railroad is making get deep enough to put me out of work. Obummer wanted to get rid of coal fired electricity, and he's pretty much succeeded. Ruining the lives of most Wyoming coal miners as well as a good percentage of the people who were employed to haul it.

But with the sale of a couple things...maybe.

Tell me about it.... I just got furloughed Friday. We lost all of our coal business and it's been a killer.

Dang it, sorry to hear that. Are you with bnsf? I'm MOW, we seem to be the least-hard hit so far. But ours will be coming soon probably.
