Just wondering what everyone would consider to be a reasonable price for a used Remington 870 12 gauge???

Will,
I bought a used 870 Express, 28" Rem Choke, vent rib, very plain "hard wood" stocks, no rust, minor bluing wear, for $168 + tax at a local pawn shop last year. He has others in there for around $200 now.

i wouldent go over 180 out the door if its ther standard 870 magnum
when fall comes around here they have them on said for about 240 ish plus a 20$ maill in rebate and ususaly you can go to gander get a fishing or hunting lic and get a 10$ off when you spend 50 card
so that kinda puts you down to around 200ish so again its hard to go used when they are going to have so better super sales comeing up cause every one knows every thing is in the crapper and not spendingt as much $$$

Don't know about Gander. Been a while since I've been in one. However, I may tomorrow, since I'll be in Wichita & driving by.
I did check here in town today at Wally's (yeah, I know), to see what a new Express was there. They had them at $227 + tax, wood or synthetic. So....I'll just have to see what I find at the show tomorrow.

I had originally planned on buying either a Mossberg or Rem. turkey gun to use for a close-range calling weapon. (I have several places that I can hunt, but would be better suited to a scattergun, than a rifle)
But, my bonus was about 1/2 what I expected, & would barely cover the cost of the turkey gun.
So, since it appears I can buy a basic "field" model for 1/2-2/3 of the cost, I may do that. That way I'll have a gun for bunnies/pheasants & then trade out the choke for one better suited for coyotes.

Just an update, even though I'm sure nobody but me actually gives a tootie. LOL

After spending many hours searching the local gun dealers (within 50 miles), I went to the gun show in Wichita yesterday looking for a new or used 870...or Mossy 500 to become my new close-range coyote getter.
After 3 hrs of walking around looking at, shouldering, cussin' & discussin'...I settled on an almost new 870 Express 12g. w/wood stocks.
"Talked the guy down" to $200 which incl. tax. (made it about $183 before tax)
It had a modified choke installed.
I also bought a Carlson's .660 XXFull (couldn't find a Dead Coyote), new swing swivels/studs, a Tru-Glo "ghost ring" adjustable slug sights.
For this season that will suffise.
By next Fall, it'll have synthetic camo stocks & a shorter barrel.

This gun has a 28" barrel, for now. By Fall 2010, it will have a shorter one.

I plan on doing some pattern tests in the next couple weeks.
After I do, I'll post up some pics & get everyone's opinions of the results.
