Rem 870 front sight ?

I'm interested in changing my factory white bead front sight to a fiber optic. The one I found says it screws in where the bead does. Does the bead on my Rem 870 in the picture un-screw? If so does the white un-screw or the black base with the white bead?

This is the fiber optic that I'm looking at changing to. The rib looks different, do you think it would work on my 870? Thanks.

canislatrans54, Is it the black part along with the bead or just the bead? Did you ruin it by unscrewing it? Can you post picture of the which Tru-Glo you replaced it with?

FWIW, I have had, and have a couple of the magnetic type. Have had them pull off when walking in brush, and lose them. A clamp on or screw on type may cost more, but may be worth it when you're losing them anyhow. Gotta love FO's [beeep]!

I found this one at Cabela's but it doesn't say what size thread it has. I like the look of replacing the bead and don't want to use magnetic type.
It is a TruGlo Long Bead Universal

I put a Tru Glo sight on my 1187. Instead of replacing the bead itself, the sight slides against it and clamps and then you use the set screws. Also has the rear sight that is fully adjustable for elevation and windage. Its all metal, not plastic like a lot of them. Kinda high though, but if you sell the gun or start using another you can take the sight off and put it on another.

Your bead will unscrew counter clock wise.
The sight you are showing comes with 3 sizes of screws...just pick the one that work.

The new sight may make the gun shoot higher or lower because they will be higher than your old sights are.

My white bead unscrewed very easily. I went with the TruGlo Universl Long Bead in green. I think it will work well for me.
