Remington .17 Fireball reviews please.

I am looking at picking up a Remington SPS in .17 Fireball. I saw this little round and it sure looks wicked. Anyone have any input on this caliber? What critters have you shot with it so far and how did it perform? I plan on using it for coyotes, fox and squirrels. I already have 22-250, .223 and .204 so I'm pretty much looking for something new and exciting. Any input sure would be appreciated before I pull the trigger and spend the cash.

Thanks in advance.

I have Rem 700 CDL SF Lt in 17rfb
it is a nice addition to the varmint collection fur friendly with the right bullet and BT's aren't the right bullet.

range is medium, comparable to the 223 under the right conditions

New to the forum, but I do have some experience with the 17FB and 700 SPS combo. I bought this rifle a while ago and have really enjoyed both the gun and the 17FB. I am in the process of working up a load now for the 25gr Vmax bullets I got last week for the gun. Today at the range I shot five five shot groups with this bullet and 15.5gr of H4198. The average was just over 5/8" for the five groups of reloads using once fired brass. I am going to keep edging up the power until either I find a more accurate load or reach the max loading. I had ten left over factory loads with the 20 gr bullet and they shot two five shot groups around 3/4".

Overall I am very pleased with the rifle and the cartridge. I am thinking very strongly about getting another 17FB.........either at TC Encore or a Remington Model 7 as the SPS is a fine rifle, but dang its heavy!

I use the 17 Fireball rifle for prairie dog shooting. Most all of my shots have ben within 300 yards. I loaded some Hornady 25 Gr HP bullets with Benchmark powder that I had when I purchased the rifle. Shooting off a bench rest at 100 yards I get 0.6 inch five shot groups. The rifle is a Remington Mdl 700 CDL SF Limited Ed with a Leupold 6-18 X scope. I like the low muzzle blast and recoil from the 17 Fireball rifle.
