I have heavily considered one of these as well. I think it would come down to the deal I could find. Great rifles, but they are starting to get pricey. However, if you have the wifes permission you should be posting pictures of your new rifle rather than asking questions!!!

I have basically the same rifle (XCR compact tac. in .223) only diff is bbl finish, stock(B&C vs. HS precision), and trigger, I dont beleive the LTR has the 40X like the compact tac. has. Anyways they are good shooters. Mine shoots the 40gr. vmaxs to the 69gr. MK great. It will stabilize the 75gr. loads but only holds about 1moa @ 100. 69 MK's shoot great under .75 MOA, sometimes under .5 Be warned [beeep], they are very forward heavy rifles [beeep], and in general a little too heavy for a stand rig.

I had the XCR comp Tac version as well. Rifle handles great and feels good to shoulder. Mine wouldn't chamber a round out of the box, bad extractor. Accuracy was pretty good. 3/4moa with hand loads. I traded it for a Tikka super varmint and haven't looked back.
The LTR & Compact tactical are nice but not worth the money their asking. I'd buy a beater 700 and build want I wanted before I dropped a Grand on a Remington now. Their quality is hit and miss at best.

I just got the 223 LTR last week, mine shoots factory Hornady 52gr BTHP into dime size or smaller 3 shot groups at 100. I haven't played with any handloads yet, I am waiting for my new rings to show up before I do any load development.

I also have the 308 LTR, it also shoots sub MOA easily out to 700 yards (farthest I've stretched it).

I've had my 223 LTR for a few years now and it was, when it still had the factory barrel, always a sub moa gun but holy cow batman did it have the roughest barrel of just about any factory rifle I've ever owned. Pushing a tight patch down the tube was not very easy. It would build copper worse than any factory rifle I've ever had but it always shot well so I couldn't really complain. The LTR has kind of a weird finish on them too. I'm not sure what they call it but I wasn't a big fan. It's now a 223AI and is all Cerakoted.

Someone has to be a nay sayer so I guess it will be me. I've had three. The first was a 308 that shot like a bench rifle, second was another 308 to replace the first one that I sold. It was a turd! Third was a 223 and a bigger turd than the second. Not all are created equal!
