REMINGTON 25-06 , FACTORY AMMO

Today I shot 40 rounds of factory Remington 120gr Core Lokt ammo. The best three shot group was 2.5 inches at 100 yards. I let it cool down between strings. Broke the weapon down and checked all screws including scope screws. Its a Remington 700 sps topped with a Nikon. Anybody have any idea what factory ammo we can grab that might group better?
 
I am a huge fan of Rem Core-lokt ammo for the guns I don't reload for, however, my one and only 25-06 will not shoot them at all, but it loves the Bal. Silvertips.

I have owned two rifles in 25-06 rem. An early Rem.700 bdl and a Ruger 77 ss/syn. both shot Rem. 100gr. pspcl quite well. good luck finding what yours likes.
 
I just got mine and have not shot any factory loads in it, but it liked Venatics handloads with a 100 grain speer btsp

This was out of the box with nothing done but the trigger adjusted.
 
The 100 grain Remington loads typically shoot a lot better in the .25-06s I have been around. I know my rifle shoots 90-100 grain bullets better than the 115-120 bullets.
 
I don't reload so I always end up trying a ton of factory ammo. The Hornady Super Performance 117 grain SST works great for me. I can consistantly shoot 2" groups at 200 yards. Sometimes better. I use the cheaper stuff to practice and then dial in and hunt with the Hornady.

My ruger loved the 100 grain remington but not the 120's. But the 120 winchester 120's it loves. As a bonus the remington's shot 1/2 inch higher at 100yds but the same LtoR. Tried to load for it but haven't foun anything better than the winchester pep yet.

Not anyone that knows anything about elk hunting. Even though it will work, I wouldn't recommend a 25.06 for elk hunting. Lots of better choices. If I was going to use a 25.06, it would be with 117 grain or 120 grain.
