i have a friend that has this in semi automatic, when you shoot it,the shell only comes out a little ways out of the chamber and sticks, and it pulls a little chunk out the the rim.i told him maybe the chamber is dirty. hes using factory ammo. any ideas?what would be the best way to clean the chamber?

I'd clean the rifle and get rid of what I suspect to be Remington ammo. I've pulled chunks of Remington rims off with bolt action rifles. It's the only ammo that has ever did it to me.

Could be alot of things beyond a dirty weapon. I'd start with checking for a bad extractor or extractor spring. My experiences with semi auto rifles tell me that "little chunk out" isn't all that unusual. Thats' why I don't save brass fired in my AR's because they beat up the brass too much.

He needs to clean his chamber. This model has a rotating bolt and if the extractor grabs the rim too hard and the chamber is dirty or pitted, it will slow down the extraction process. Sounds like the extractor is trying to do it's job if it's ripping chunks off the rim.

You can find a flexible chamber brush from Brownells that should help you out.
