Remington 541-T?

USMC

Hi Guys,

I am in a dilemma!

I have a Remington 541-T That I am thinking of selling.

Is this something I am going to regret later on? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I have only shot it four times sice I got it way back in 1985 or 1986. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Help!!!!

This is probably the only rifle that I own that doesn't get use at all.

I think you will regret selling it unless you are really pressed for cash. I regret nearly every gun I have ever parted with except for a couple of poor shooting ruger centerfire rifles. I just bought a 541t last year, got it for a real low price cause of someone having poorly installed sling swivels. Doesn't bother me none, as this thing shoots really well. As with anything they no longer make, can't see them getting much cheaper. I hear the new rem 504 can't even come close to how the 541 shoots.

Don't sell it. It's a dandy. If you do, sell it to me because you and I both know it's crap. I'll give you a hundred bucks sight unseen!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In all honesty, if you do decide to sell it, send me a PM. I've got an idea if you are interested in a trade.

Strange how some topics come at the right time. I just finished writing a note to 1Shot, who sold me a 541T-HB a couple of month back.

I just got mine sighted in with a Leupold 3x9x40 and Millett engraved rings. It's a tack driver, as is the 541-S that my brother-in-law has had for years.

Mine isn't going to leave my hands, though my son likes the looks of it. I'd recommend you keeping yours, but if you want you shouldn't have any problem selling it. Anyone who picks one up should be very happy with the way the 541's shoot. Recently I saw a couple for $700 to $800, in some on-line site, but the price was high due to their fancy scopes. If I had the extra cash I'd go for a 6.5x20x50 Leupold too, but that's overkill for my 22LR budget. Heck, that's the scope I'd like on my 22-250.

One thing about a 22LR, and especially a good one, their fun and cheap to shoot, even if it's only plinking. I'm not sure that anyone can have too many 22s.

You guys have done a great job in pointing all of the pros of this great little rifle.

I am keeping it!

Sorry "SteveM" I think we might have talked "USMC" out of selling it.

"1Shot"------Not at all!
Though you wouldn't be the first one of us to have a bit of "Seller's Remorse" after selling a good firearm.

But as you'll remember I've already been called "Incrediably Rude" by others in this forum over buying a 541T-HB from you.

I better just keep my big mouth shut and my fingers off the keyboard. Otherwise you'll see how much I smile every time I sight down a certain barrel.

Guys you have done an awesome job explaning to me why I would regret selling that bad boy.

I am keeping my 541-T!

Did not know that it was such a dandy!

USMC since you are in Colorado I would drive over and ply you with alcohol to prevent you from selling it if necessary! But, you have already come to your senses and made the right decision.

Now, go out and shoot it a lot! See how not enough shooting can make you get those dangerous "gun-selling" thoughts? Bad bad!! Shoot! Shoot!!

I have a 541-S that I bought in December 1975 as a high-school senior that is going into the coffin with me. TACKDRIVER. It has taken many rodent scalps of all types. Still shoot it regularly (though not often enough!)

We should have a '541-fest'. Are there any ground squirrels out there that would be suitable attendees? All of us 541 owners could get together and 'invite' them to be, um, part of the shooting festivities!

I have been watching this and finally had to give my experiences. The first time I ever saw a 541S was at a private range. I had been invited to join the GROUP. Which was an honor. I walked up and during introductions, I knocked over a pristine 541S. It landed in the gravel. The owner allmost cried. I told him I would buy it and he could get another. It didn't go over so well. I actually got to stay in the group and still shoot there to this day. The owner has never brought the 541s back when i was there. I later found a 541T in a pawn shop for 125.00 and it had a scope on it. I dont think the pawn shop operator actually knew what it was. I still have it and it will never be sold by me.
