Remington 660 .243

So, a friend of mine wants to sell his Remington 660 .243 and wants to sell it to me. I have not bought my .243 and was looking for a 700 action. I really cant find this action (660) in this caliber so I dont know what a fair price is. It has a good bore, no fouling, wood stock with handling marks and is in very good condition. So, without pics, I know its hard to say but what do you think a ball park price would be. Thanks.

One of those in excellent condition will usually bring $600 and up. There was recall on the safety on the 600 and 660. Do you know if it has been updated? Put the safety on and if you can lift the bolt handle it has been updated. If you can't raise the bolt handle with the safety on, it needs to be sent in and repaired. There were issues with the gun discharging when the safety was moved to the off position.

Yeah there will be a star on the trigger if it is fixed. You need to call remington and give them the serial they will look it u if that one is recalled. I have a 660 in mint condition chambered in .222 rem. It has never had the trigger work done. Remington said just mail it in and they will fix it for free but you have to send the stock to because they need to inlet it a little. When I was a kid it discharged when the safety was turned off. Basicaly I think it is a stubby, heavy(for its size), poorly balanced gun. I like lighter guns with longer barrels and a weight forward balance but that is just me. 600$ sounds about right.
