I bought a 700 LTR in 6.8 SPC. What factory ammo will best for it? Will Hornady or Fusions be OK or do I need the chamber reamed to SpecII

Stole this from a older thread

"The ogive" and twist rate.

The longer throat length (specI 0.064) to (specII 0.105) and a 1-10, 1-11 and 1-12 twist rate.
I like the 1-10 I shoot 115gr bullets. I Buy them at Silver State Ammo.
Bullets should be crimped. 1-12 would nice for smaller bullets @ higher fps.

Like .223rem and 5.56mm Nato chambers.

To get from specI to specII is to ream out the throat. Can be done by hand with a specII reamer.

They moved to specII to shoot high pressure loads. 60,000+ PSI. To gain more fps.
Silver State sell 6.8mm brass with small primer holes so you can load #41 primers. Best to reload

Remington loads 6.8mm rounds for specI (Large rifle primers). These can be shot in specII. They maked them for the 700 Remington rifles.
Silver State loads rounds for specII should not to be used in specI rifles. Chamber pressure to high.

"You do not need to change your chamber." The shorter ogive is fine for a bolt gun.
Remington ammo would be my choice, they uses a large primers. I shoot them in my Contender. If you call Silver State, there is some of their ammo you can use in a bolt action. Silver State uses #41, small primers. I have never used Hornady or Fusions ammo.

I shoot SSA in my Bushmaster 1-11 AR.

I've shot a couple hundred Hornady factory loads thru my LTR in 6.8. It shot the 110 v max ok. If you reload this can really shine with 90grain Sierras. I also shot a couple hundred SSA 110 grain bargin loads I forgot what they called them. I shot them for the brass,it was $79.00 per 100 by the time I added up bullets, brass, powder&primers seemed like a good deal to buy loaded rounds and empty them at the steel gongs. Great rifle& cartridge!
