Boyd's stocks are simply fantastic, and opt for their checkering, it will really knock your eyes out.
If you go on ebay, you will see many options. Hogue makes a fantastic stock that few know about. Hogue makes two basic models, a fiberglass stock with pillars with an over lay of rubber, and a second model that is fiberglass with an Aluminum reinforcement that goes from the Tang to the end of the forearm. The Al that they use is a grade of 7075 and it is as stiff as steel. These top end stock go for less than $200 and are a shore nuff tough, rigid stock for a guy that wants a stock that does not flex, and will take a lot of abuse.
Here are some examples of what I pulled up off of ebay to teaching purposes only:
1. ebay item # 111612155206
with this stock you can see the color, and the pillars. The stock is made with Fiberglass, not
molded plastic so that a lot of the stock flex is eliminated in the pistol grip and the area
in front of the recoil lug
2. ebay item # 111619071691
This is an example of how a guy reinforced the stock, will be a great buy for someone
3. ebay item # 251843588591
Replacement stock for the Remington stock that you have
4. ebay item # 261812258918
the illustrations on this stock show the al bedding block extending from the tang to the tip of the forearm in one solid piece. The
Al bedding block in the action area is probably what you are familiar with seeing H & S Stocks.
Again, the grade of 7075 Aluminum is tough as steel. For comparison, laminate stocks with
this bedding block in them cost over $600!!!

Good luck and I appreciate the moderators allowing the examples of various stocks, I am in no way affiliated with any of the sellers.
