Has anyone reading these posts had any experience with the Heavy Varmint in .308 Winchester. A friend of mine just became the proud owner of one and I was wondering what other owners thought about the rifle.

I've had a bunch of them - maybe 6 or 7 - from way back with the wood BDL stocks to the H-S Precision police stocks - they ALL shoot like crazy - they are a hands down winner!!

I've got a 700 Sendero in 25-06 that shoots REALLY well. It's the first generation with the none fluted chrome-moly 26" varmint barrel and the older (small palm swell) HS precision stock. I love that rifle but its a BEAST to carry...

I've had the PSS, and LTR in 308 and they shot good. I had an SPS that was a POS. I had a Sendaro in 25-06 and a varmint in 223 that shot good to.

Have a 26" .308 HB 700 w/H.S. Precision stock, no flutes. It shoots good..don't shoot it a much anymore, my old globally re-constructed shoulder makes me pay too high a price. Do have fun with my 700 LTR..same rifle in .223 but with shorter fluted barrel.

I have a couple of Rem HV's none in .308, but mine are great guns. They shoot better than I can, that's for sure. If the holes in the target are not touching, it's not good enough for me.

Yes -SPS, it's not free floated, flimsy stock, finish scratches easy, but still shot MOA at 100 yds.

Recommend stock upgrade and also get it in SS finish.

I have 1959 in 243win, HV and it is a shooter. It came in a nice BDL wood stock. I restocked it in a new Remington x100 stock. I added a 6.5x20 Leupold III scope. I have been very happy.
