Looking to start a build on a custom 7mm STW have a quick question bout actions. I'm looking for a long action in the Remington 700 action and was wondering if theres a difference in the different model's? Such as the Sendero to a SPS? Or is a long action Remington 700 action a long action Remington 700 action no differences between model's?

Thanks,
Luke

i believe a long action is a long action, the only difference is going to be what its made out of (700Ti VS 700sps) and the finish (700CDL bluing VS 700sps coating vs SS, etc)

I'm pretty sure bigsky's right.
You need to make sure that the bolt face matches the caliber though.

A long action is a long action no matter the model or type of metal. However, it would be best to get a magnum model if you are going to build a mag rifle. Thus having a mag bolt face and feed rails to match.

So for the STW do I need to buy a remington 700 action built for a 7mm STW or can I buy any remington 700 long action magnum action?

cal-rangh has adl for 399.00 (get mag so you dont have to mess with bolt face )
then get bottom metal from remington genral store for 80.00 that the chepest way right now.
about 480+ tax on the gun or ksl.

Everyone is diff on this. When I get an idea about a build,I'll start looking for a used rifle with the style action I want. Since I prefer older actions over the newer finish styles, sometimes one can be had for a good price. Cruze the classifieds and local gun shops etc and look for what you want.

I would keep your eyes peeled on KSL. There will be one shows up on there that fits your needs sooner or later.

Got a question for you and 2MG can I install this Wyatt's box by myself or is a smith required to install it properly?
