Remington 700 Long Range

Can‘t say that I paid any attention to that. Will have to look next time I walk over to the shop.
If bought within the last few years it's remarms. My company still has a bunch of their 12 gauge receivers under lock and key after Remington went bankrupt and shut down the illion, ny plant.
Does anyone have a 700 long range bought after the restructuring? I'm curious about the quality today.

I love my 700's. My 6.5x06 consistently shoot's just under 1/2" at 100 from bags! Have a 25-06 that gave me my best group ever. .111" at 100yds for five shot's and until I got right on the target could only see one hole! Now I just had a 243 700 rebarreled to 260 Rem and its also a shooter. Best group under 1/2" and worst just right at 3/4". These were 3 shot groups! Something about the 260 I forgot to mention. The barrel is a Lilja and it's about the same size my old 660 308 was. Probably helps some. Love the barrel.

There is a shop in Tulsa that had a Long Range in stock. It was still there a few weeks ago. Can't say for sure it still is. I think it was a 6.5 PRC. Hear again can't say for sure. Action Arms is the shops name.

Gents,
I've got a VLS and a VSSF II both in 22-250.
Recently I purchased a Canjar Deluxe trigger, it's not a set trigger-sent it to a fellow in Kansas that works on them for a once over and to see if anything needs repair. I'm thinking of having it put in the VSSF , it doesn't have a bolt release.
My other option is to sell it, buy a Trigger Tech or have the Remington trigger worked over to 1.5 / 2 pounds.
What's your thoughts?
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Have a nice weekend.

I'll get you in trouble, I love a light trigger!!! I have a TT in one rifle that breaks at 1 1/2 pounds. Its a great trigger. Have two other Remingtons and both break about that same weight. My Sako has a Canjar set trigger and its about 8 oz. I was just looking at my Rem VSSF in 223 and the trigger breaks at 2 pounds. It could use some work on it. It breaks clean but I would prefer it to be lighter. Most will tell you a 2 pound trigger is good enough but I personally prefer them lighter. Even a heavier trigger pull isn't bad if it breaks crisp and clean. I hate a terrible trigger. I have a Contender that has a trigger like a cheap AR15. I hate shooting that rifle.

I let a buddy trade me out of my 270 a few years ago.
Started missing the caliber so I bought a 700 CDL over the internet and was not happy with the smaller diameter barrel. So I sold it after I found this 700 Long Range. Discovered that there were no Jewell triggers to be had that I like. Found that Trigger Tech offers one that adjusts to 1lb. that I am used to shooting.
Worked up some loads and headed to the range.
I think I found a combination it likes.
Best 5 shot group I have ever got from a factory rifle.

I have a 700 Long Range in 30/06 same color stock. It's a tac driver right out of the box. I put a Leupold 6.5-20×40 with a 20 mil rail. I love it. I'm sure you love yours to.

I have an older one that has the HS Precision stock in 300 WM. That gun kicks like a made mule. Recoil pad is hard as a rock....that doesn't help.
Wish I could try that new stock shape on it.

Whats one worth these days?

With most new guns. new or simply new to me. I've always shot them right out of the box then normally rebed the whole rifle. Have one now I'm not sure how to bed. Mossberg patriot. Factory bedding is a strip of plastic under the receiver. Keep thinking I should pull the plastic and bed under it. Then if necessary bed under the barrel on the plastic. Gun shoots pretty good though so haven't jumped into it. But overall I found most factory rifle's, new and used could use a good bedding to start off. Then the trigger. I have several 700's with old Walker triggers and like my Walkers. I take them all to right at 3# and works well for me. I've found most people that shoot one of them do poorly at first thinking they didn't touch it but they sure did. Probably my favorite hunting trigger is the factory trigger on my mod 70 featherlight. It's down at five pounds and I think I better control the whole rifle with the bit heavier trigger. Guy I shot small bore match with in Germany had an Anschutz with a super light trigger, about 2 oz. I never got good enough to close the bolt on a live round without firing it. I had a 22 mag Anschutz I got over there and I could close the bolt on a live round in it but most others couldn't. I think for most people super light trigger's hamper them, sense of touch simply not good enough I think.

Same here is my experience, I prefer the "Walker". While many will go on about them and safety. My answer is simple leave the bolt open it's one of the safest way to transport them (or remove them, easier on the firing pin spring as well). And I also think in the discharge cases is a result of setting them too low, a 3.5 lb to 3 lbs trigger is a personal choice.
