Folks
I happened upon this rifle, if it's not new, it's shot very little.
I know ZERO about them and thought perhaps some gents can enlighten me.
I know it's fluted-14 twist-HS stock with aluminum bedding and a very nice trigger.
Was going to start with Sierra 52 grain bullets and Varget or something close. I've got a selection of powder including VV and Accurate. Any firsthand help you can pass along will be greatly appreciated! Do you guys think its a good rifle. It's a lot lighter than my VLS but not as lite as my Tikka Lite.

I like to run 52 gr HP at 3600 fps out of my 22-250 varmint rifles. Varget is what I usually run. Several Rem factory 22-250 barrels have needed the coal slightly longer than the 2.350 you see in load data. Tipped bullets coal about 0.025 longer(2.350- 2.375). So don't limit seating depth testing.

I have the same rifle as you describe but mine is a 220 Swift. I have had it since 1993 and it is extremely accurate (it is the rifle in my avatar). For this rifle I am a fan of the Sierra 55 gr HPBT (#1390) using IMR4064 running about 3900 fps. I know the 22-250 is a little different but you can't beat the above bullet.

I agree.. Those Sierra #1390's shoot really good out of 223 and 22-250s. Iv only tried them in 8-12 Twist. Im sure they will be good in a 14 twist.

Sierra #1410 are very forgiving on seating depth in just about everything ive tried them in.

I had a 1980's era Remington 700 ADL in 22-250 that I shot the barrel out on. It had at least two owners prior to me and after ten years of my use it started to keyhole some bullets. It always had the "flyer" in three shot groups, I now think the bullets weren't really stabilized. But the last bullet it shot well was the 55gr Berger flat based match bullet. That accounted for a 583 yard chuck and shot a half minute. It never shot any boat tail bullets well so if yours gives you trouble try some flat base bullets. BTW I can't remember if my barrel was 1-12" or 1-14" twist.

I have a Rem XR-100 in 22-250 1in14 that shoots 50gr Sierra BlitzKing bullets amazingly well using H-380. I’d guess the 52’s would also shoot.

The Remington VSSF's chambered in anything they came in are about a solid of a choice as you can get. I always liked the first version VSSF the best because on those the HS Prec stocks didn't have the palm swell like the VSSF II had but that's a personal choice and I know a few that actually liked the stocks with the palm swell better. The VSSF II's had black flutes also but again that's one of those personal choice beauty is in the eye of the beholder things on whether or not you preferred that look versus the original VSSF that didn't have black flutes.

Soup said "It's a lot lighter than my VLS" there is nothing light about VSSF's and I think if you put them both on a scale you'd find out there's likely only a few ounces difference between a VLS and either of the VSSF's.

Two bullets I've had shoot extremely well in 14 twist 22-250's. Probably the easiest bullet to make shoot really well in any 22cal rifle I've ever used them in is the flat base Sierra 53gr MK and a very close second is the Hornady 52gr A-max which is now called the 52gr ELD-M. Numerous powders work well but for bullets in that weight in 22-250's I've always had both IMR and H4895 be top performers.

This was that exact offering it came with a 26" barrel. Very accurate with my hand loads shooting a 50g vmax and IMR-4064 at 3900 fps.
Shot that barrel out and changed the stock to a mdt xrs.
I now use the action and switch my barrel s from a 26" mtu contour 22-250 to a 22br
straight taper at 28" in length.
Still shooting Very well in both calibers.

The vssf with the H S precision stock made by Remington was one of the best rifles they built. Mine likes sierra or nosler 50/55 grain, and 3031 or 8208xbr. But any bullet/medium burn rate powder will work. Easy rifle to load for.
