Seriously looking at getting a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle SS in 280 Remington upgrading from my TC Encore, Just wondering how bad the muzzle jump with that 22" barrel is shooting off the bench? Anyone have any experience with this model 700?

I have a rem 700 mtn rifle in 30-06 and 280. also a rem 700 long range in 30-06. both shoot great groups. the heavier rifle is more comfortable shooting off the bench. the lighter ones are nicer to carry in the woods.

I have a Remington SS mtn rifle in .260 Rem. Great rifle but that pencil thin barrel gets hot after 3 shots so it's not a great bench rifle. But sweet to carry and mine puts 3 in a nice tight group.

I thought about the 280 AI but dont really want to spend the time fireformig brass for it, I''m already set up for reloading the 280 Rem. I usually let the barrel cool for ten minutes between shots at the range. I''m gonna start checking on the price over the next couple days.

Mine is a .280 and while it has a little bit of bark from the bench, I don't notice it when hunting. It's a great rifle to carry and after recrowning, it shoots very well.

No need to fireform if you wanted to just buy it from Nosler.

Besides, it's a hunting rifle, not a bench gun. A nice lazy afternoon and you could easily have 100 good pieces of brass formed and ready.

But to each their own, as they say.
