Remington 700 SPS tactical.....Like it? Dislike it?

A buddy has one in .308 that shoots little bitty groups with 168 gr. handloads.
The shorter barrel takes off quite a bit of weight. His rifle is noticeably lighter than my 26" barrel SPS Varmint.

I have read that the stock is one thing that people complain about consistently. Any body else here not like the stock? I personally thought that I would like it with the soft feel of it...but I don't have it in my hands yet so I cannot say for sure.

I hear constant complaints about the standard Remington "Tupperware" plastic stocks. I've swapped out 3 of them myself. But I hear very few complaints about the Hogue stocks that Remington uses. I know 2 guys that own the Tacticals. Both of them love the Hogue stocks, and both of the guns are shooters.
The only Hogue I've owned was on a 10/22 and I didn't care for it.

My first experience in the store was that I thought it was too muzzle heavy. I carry a 700P quite a bit at work and it's basically the same rifle but with an HS stock, I think that balances it out a little better. Plus considering it didn't have a scope on it probably didn't help either. If it shoots as good as the .223 700 SPS I bought that day (if they would have had a .223 instead of the .204 tactical, I probably would have bought it) I think you will like it. I just didn't like the stock.

Well I have been looking at some different "factory match grade" ammo. I have not got into reloading as of right so this is my best option as of now. I do plan on getting into reloading soon. Mainly would be focused on .223 and .308 to start off with. I simply do not have the space to do it. I am wanting to build a shop for this so I can have a "reloading area"
