Remington 700 Trigger recall

Before I started shooting and hunting I spent a small fortune racing NHRA and building street rods so I have been way down that road of customizing and building from scratch. Put 20 years in car dealerships (any body remember the Pintos exploding?) as a tech and I am well aware of warranty issues. That said I ain't giving them a pass. If the aftermarket companies like Timney can build a trigger we want why can't Remington? Savage and Tikka's seem OK. Remington should be leading the industry with best trigger out there. Oh and a quick one minute Google search for recalled Remington products.

Sorry I know its not their fault. LOL

You missed at least one that was recalled for a redesign.
I made the mistake of buying one of those piece of junk Remington 105 semi-auto bottom eject shotgun's. Sent it back once and it still would not work lost some money on that deal.

Customer Service was very cordial though unlike Benelli CS. Two brands I will not purchase shotguns from again.

As you well know and indicated by your post, Winchester has had numerous recalls on ammunition. Recalls occur in just about any product if safety might be a concern.

The 17 HMR recall shown above was a good thing in that Remington stepped forward and said enough after numerous semi-auto failures of many kinds - not all Remington - with too hot 17 HMR ammunition (for semi-auto blow back actions) of all makes - which was and still is the real potential culprit in that scenario.

start the new job yet?

With the $$ saved not having to buy a new trigger, I have plenty of $$ for cheap sunglasses an paper bags..
PS. All my Friend's have switched to the ugly Savage,s. Lot's of cheap sunglasses.. Lol

I wonder as a consumer can I order a 700 without a trigger? Or better yet maybe Remmy can just start contacting Timney or Basic for there triggers for there rifles. Just a thought.

Well, I just got an email from Remington that I would receive a box in 5-7 days.
The email came with a UPS chipping label and return form.
Boy that was fast. LOL

Best thing you can do with that box is throw it away and get a real trigger. Jewell, rifle basix, Timney ect...

I already put a 2# Timney trigger in the rifle. I am saving the box like Catshooter, told me. If it even comes.

I have already replaced the trigger with a Timney trigger. I am going to box the old trigger in the box and send it to Remington.

I have 2 Remington rifles under the recall, one has a Shilen trigger, the other a Timney. I would never send one back for a factory trigger of any flavor.

I got my box today. I am glad I changed my trigger, myself.
This is the thinnest box I have ever seen.
The address they gave me to ship to is in downtown New York, 5th avenue.

Remington you just got a 4-F.

So they offer to fix it for you and you replace the trigger... Ok.. Then you call them up and have them send you a box because you don't plan on using it anyways. Then when it arrives you [beeep] because its thin?

Did you expect a Pelican hard side case or what?

What does it matter where it's shipped to as long as the repair takes place?

Your in a group with a several hundred thousand other rifle owners and sporting goods stores that have been effected by this recall. Did you expect next day service because your special?

Please tell..... Would you fix rifles on a first come first serve basis if you were running the show? Or would you make exceptions for guys out there (like yourself) who think they are so much more important than everyone else that they deserve special attention because they [beeep] and give you a bad grade on an online forum?

But in the end no matter what they do just won't be good enough. It just baffles the mind.

You can bet your azz.. If this was savage doing a huge recall the fans would wear the knees out of their blue jeans giving lip service for them and the great job they would be doing. I won't go that far but do expect some of the same liberties to express my feelings.

Well guys ... I sent my rifle in and it's now on the way home. I shipped my Rem700 to Remington on April 17 and got a notice back that they received it on April 24. I just got an Email today and it stated that my rifle was repaired and I'd be getting it back by UPS tomorrow (11 June) ... hopefully it gets here okay ? So I guess there's hope for all you other guys that shipped rifles too ? Ben

I'm with Furhunter on this, if Remington feels they have to fix the trigger then so be it. Me I would rather have something fixed before a problem comes up then have an accident. Over the last 5 years I have sent rifles in to Remington, TC, and Dakota Arms for recalls or repairs. I view this as part of life and don't see it reflecting on the companies since this was all done in a proactive manner.
When purchased my F-250 in 04 the truck was recalled 5 times for engine and transmission issues, (needed to be rebuilt), in the first year. Since then it has been flawless in its operation. Ford kept from being inconvenienced so I felt that it was worth it to take a wait and see approach. Glad I did.
Life is too short to get wrapped up in your underwear over insignificant issues.

I don't think that's too bad... [beeep] it takes Zeiss 5 months to replace a scope when its sent in for a repair.
