Remington 760

In found a 760 today in .35 rem that I decided to put a down payment on.. Ive heard stories about some lubricants(WD-40) eating the O-Ring the moves with the slide. What types would be safe to use?
 
Will, I wouldn't use WD40 on firearms anyway. There are tons of better fluids for solvent/cleaners or lube/preservatives.

The 270 in the 760 is a VERY accurate rifle, never worked up a load for any of the other calibers.

I am far from a gunsmith but I used to have a 760 and I "lightened" the trigger with a bic pen spring. Just drop the trigger group out with the pins in the receiver and walla there is the spring. It is very easy to pull out and replace. I do not have a trigger scale but I estimate it was in the 1 1/2 to 2 lb range. Too light for hunting in my opinion but great for shooting groups. Great gun but I prefer a bolt.

I've got one of the basket weave 760's that has was an 06, now rebored to 35 Whelen. With handloads it is a 1 1/2 MOA rifle. It is my go to elk rifle and has always preformed admiralbly on deer @ any range. A great weapon!!
