Remington 760

Hi all. I have a vintage Remington 760. I am looking to purchase an additional magazine or two. Vintage original equipment would be my first choice. There are aftermarket mags avaliable but they all get poor reviews. If you have any advise regarding aftermarket mags this information is most welcome also. Thank you for your assistance, time, and consideration into this matter. -- Rob
 
Remington needs their butt kicked for the magazine design for their 7400/7600 rifles. It is a weak spot for the 760/7600 pump rifles. When you find a good functional magazine, mark it and take care of it. The Remington pump guns are a treasure.
 
I had a 760 in .30-06 some years ago and had two factory mags for it. I never recall having any problems with magazines.

If I ever find one of the carbines in .308 it's mine...
 
My 1st rifle @ age 12, 27yrs ago was a 7600 .30-06...had see through scope rings, so you could still use the irons..terrible setup in retrospect...

It had horrible magazine issues. It went to the gunsmith on 3 seperate occaissions, once with a live round stuck. Tried 3 different magazines in it as well, 2 factory and 1 aftermarket.

Finally got disgusted with it and it was traded for a 700 ADL.

They are frequently for sale, rifles and magazines, here in PA, in all the standard deer calibers.

The 760's are definitely the better of the two if you are looking to purchase one.
 
I went through six or seven magazines in order to get three good ones. A good friend has probably gone through 12-15 magazines to have four good ones. The Remington slide action rifles are generally very accurate and the triggers can be improved to the point of being decent and quite usable hunting triggers. At one time I was married to the Remington 870 and 7600 pump guns for hunting use. I was young and fresh out of college with a new career, wife and home mortgage. I didn't have a lot of play money and my Remington pump guns put a lot of good meat on our table.
