Remington 7616.

Doing my rounds in a neighboring towns gunshops yesterday. I found one neat idea of a gun that Id never heard of, and dont know why remington didnt market more.

Its a 7600 pump chambered in .223 and factory modified to use AR 15 clips. How cool is that? Barrel looked to be about 18 inches long, was free floating and had ghost ring sights, but was also drilled and tapped for a scope.

In my mind this would make a nice calling rifle for those who dont want to look "para-military" in there calling efforts. Not thats theres anything wrong with para- just seems we get labeled by looks instead of facts these days.

One small correction on the name. It's called a 7615P. Like you said, it uses AR15 magazines and is offered with standard, collapsible or pistol grip synthetic stocks, rifle or ghost rings sights. For more information go to the Remington Law Enforcement website. This little rifle was developed by Remington to fill a niche in police weaponary. It was developed to be used as a patrol rifle and to be a little less intimidating to the general public.

Also to be familiar to those officers issued a Remington M870 pump action shotgun. Handling, safety, ect. are the same. It should be an excellent calling rifle. I've always said that a carbine (or rifle - your choice) 7600 in .243 would make an excellent callers weapon. Fast handling, accurate, quick firing, reliable, all attributes of a good calling gun.

Know what you mean about "PARA", have bad neck problems so got me an AR in 6x45 for running deer hunted with dogs, long story but I killed 3 pit bulls that killed one of my hounds and attacked me and had to go to court, lost, the DA made a big point out of me using an AR and its twenty round mag. to the judge. Funny the rich butthead that got me convicted(millionair bear hunter)said I told him in a phone call I shot two of them running away,a lie, he asked the same questions the DA did about a month earlier, "is that assault rifle legal for deer hunting".

Assault rifle is incorrect termanology. Its a word any anti-gun freeks use to make us sound bad. And its a word the media loves to use instead of semi auto.

Anyways the 7615 sounds interesting, especialy for those of us that cant hunt with a semi auto in our states.

I bought one of the Rem.7615 for a gun to carry in my truck.
It is a nice handling gun and shoots MOA with the winchester .45gr white box. Made some changes in mine, take a look.

Hows the trigger, would be interested in its accuracy too, how hard is it to get another barrel made? Had a couple of Rem. pumps but couldn't get them to shoot like I wanted, wish they would take off like the ARs did with all the aftermarket stuff and different calibers. Thats a fine looking rifle to me and if you could do the things you can with ARs I'd have one. BTW whats the twist rate on the barrel?

I just got off the phone with Remington. The twist rate on the 7615P is 1/9. Being right in the middle, it should handle most rounds pretty decent.

Twist rate is 1 X 9 and it is shooting right at 1" groups with 45gr Winchester white box. Will be trying some blackhills and reloads soon, will post when I do. I weakened the return spring on the trigger and smoothed it up. It breaks at just over 2.5lbs.
Accuracy systems Inc. will rebarrel and accurize your 7400 and 7600 rifles. Carl built a Ruger Mini 14 for me that shoots sub MOA with a number of loads. check out his link.

I have one and it does right at moa, it is chambered 5.56 so you can shoot mil surp ammo, the barrel is 16.5". years ago rem built the old 760 in 222 and 223, I always wanted one but couldn't find one under 1 grand so when the 7615 came out I jumped on it.
Fine looking piece randy!

Same here, I've always wanted a .223 pump and when they cane out with this, I bought one. I see that the price has come down from what I bought mine for. Supply and demand I imagine.

Out of curioscity- What are they going for? The shop this one was in has a rep for being ridiculously over priced on all arms and was asking 789 bucks. This seemed steep to me considering MSRP on the 7600 synthetic was aroung $500.
