Remington 870 new barrel, which choke?

So I just bought a factory replacement barrel for my Remington 870. Picked up a 21" vent rib barrel that came with the X full turkey rem choke. I plan on making this a dual purpose gun, turkey hunting for one and coyote hunting the other. The gun came new with a 28" barrel and I just felt that was too long for hunting in dense brush. Which choke would be good for coyotes using 4 buckshot. I have an improved cylinder rem choke in the original barrel. And FYI, I got the barrel from remington country store for 40% off using code ROCSVC40. Not sure what all the code works on but thought I would share. It saved me $80.

You will need to pattern test regardless, because every barrel can be different even within the same line. Really no way around that, and it does get expensive. However from my experience with a buddy of mine's 870, his did not like tight chokes with large shot. Check out GC's shotgun thread, lot of 870's on there.

All the tighter chokes, from full up through turkey threw an extremely dense pattern at 20 yards, but would have a doughnut pattern from there out to 50 yards. I think he ended up with something along the lines of an Improved Cylinder (kicks howler). My versa-max is the complete opposite, it only likes the tight chokes.

Yes, check out that long shotgun choke thread. Most of the chokes I use with larger shot are just a bit more open than the tightest of 'turkey chokes'. Another factor is I often use shot a bit smaller than #4 buck, just more variables to consider.

Some testing is usually called for, as mentioned.
