Who do you guys send your Remington bolts to to have them machined and threaded for an oversized knob? Pretty quick turnaround time would be great, but not too picky on that portion. Thanks!

Over on accurateshooter.com
Or his website in the pics. He's in Virginia I believe
Member named bolt fluter. Has about a 2 week turn around. He fluted and threaded mine. Installed a small tactical for like 80 bucks

Different patterns

Thanks for the info! Does he have a website or does he just run off of accurateshooter?

I hear of a lot of people using Karl Kampfeld of Kampfeld Custom to do bolt fluting and bolt knobs. The work I've seen him do sure looks nice and from what I understand his turn around time is pretty quick. I have a short action 700 I'll be dropping off in the near future.

Thanks for the info! That's one of the ones I was trying to think of last night. I will check it out

Check out Long Rifles, Inc. They actually have an online store that is pretty slick.

I also have used Marty at Twisted Barrel. I actually like Marty's bolt knob a little better.

Both are quick and do a good job at a decent price.

Plus one for Karl. His work is awesome. I have several spiral fluted barrels from him, and they all were quick and well done.

Being in Iowa, your not to far from SD, have a look at www.longriflesinc.com Call them ask Kalli what the turn around time is, tell them O'Neill sent ya. Chad Dixon does some hi end machine work.

Longrifles Inc has a group buy on their website for bolt handle threading/knob installs. Same or next day turnaround. I've had them do 3 of my bolts and they turned out great.

He has done 3 or 4 bolts for me. Quick turnaround and the work is beautiful. Great guy to talk to as well.

I ground down the ball on the bolt until it fit into the new bolt knob hole. Then epoxied it in place. Can't imagine it will ever fall off.

Tom

Thanks for all the info guys. I'll be making some calls soon.

I moved out of Iowa and back to my home state of Missouri, but I will still definitely call them and name drop lol! Thanks Skinney!
