Remington bolt knob work

Kampfelds will be getting a lot more of my business in the future. He fluted my bolt, threaded the bolt handle and installed a knob. Had it back to me in 5 days including shipping both ways and one of those days was a Sunday. Flawless machine work.

Sounds like he is a pretty popular guy. Will definitely have to check him out. Thanks guys!

I dropped off a Rem 700 SA today with Karl at Kampfeld Custom. He is one heck of a nice guy and has some very nice equipment. Looked at a lot of his work while I was there and he definitely does a VERY nice job fluting barrels and bolts as well as bolt knobs. His turn around time is crazy fast, said he'll have it done next week.

You will be happy, He does fine work. Is he in Idaho now?

I hate fluted bolts, like lipstick on a Pig! Love timed bolts! If you want to make your bolt feel smoother, put some SLIP 2000 ON IT! SLIP 2000 makes a bolt feel like it is working on roller bearings.

The flutes act like a catch all for debris, and if not cleaned on a regular basis, can and will bind up a high quality trigger. All the custom actions I own have fluted bolts.

Gun cases in the back of a truck are often left unzipped or unlocked, they collect dirt, then the dirt gets transferred to the action area, thus the saga begins.

Looking at some of his work while I was there, I'm sure it will be nothing short of excellent craftsmanship.

Yes, he is north of Sandpoint Id. up the Upper Pack River Road wayyyyy back in the boonies. It was a bit of an excursion getting there, that's for sure. lol

Lol... That's some pretty country up there though. I have a buddy that is a state trapper that lives there.

Last time i talked with Karl I thought he said he was moving to Idaho Falls! guess he changed his mind..

For those that are interested in getting their bolt handles timed properly, here is a great guy to do it properly:

I you are getting your bolt fluted, ask them to time the bolt's extraction also.
