Remington Custom Shop XP-100s ???

Living here in Remington County you never know what will turn up for sale. Seems it was quite the practice to "barter" an upgrade to your 20 year firearm award and pay the difference in a custom shop build. I recently decided to get into the Specialty Pistol Hunting sport and wanted an XP-100. I casually check Gun Broker but really did not know what caliber other than maybe a 35 or 22-250 to be able to dual purpose it (Deer and Coydogs). Do to my great Governor Cuomo, I happened into an out of the way rural gun shop to buy freaking 22 bullets (yes all sold out and the big box stores) and low and behold there sat in a dusty clase display case a XP-100. It had a story akin to my lead-in. It was a 7mm-08, Parkerized finish, two laminated stocks, EDM muzzle ported and a rather large light brown hard case. My curiosity was peaked and I had to call Remington. What I found (in talking to Keith) is that its documentation was consistent with a "rogue" custom shop build. No production build record (apparently not an enforced practice for the custom shop if you knew someone to get you a few extras included) and it shipped in February of 1980.

Remember that 1980 was the year Remington introduced the 7mm-08 in a rifle, the XP-100 did not see it in production until 1993! The stocks are Faegen made for Remington Custom Shop and the EDM porting was sent out to be done according to one of the Remington tool makers who worked there then. This may well be the first ever XP-100 in 7mm-08 caliber. In any event it is a real nice piece! Anyone have a 7mm-08 XP? What load do you use for 117 Nosler and 140 Nosler?

You will get more information over on Specilty Pistol. Iv been trying to reform these guys on pistols

. I had a 7-08 a few years back but I dont have my info anymore.

XPhunter over on SP is the guy to talk to. Hes forgot more than most people will ever know. He is a ballistic computer.
 
Thanks guys! I will "plague" that sight with lowly pistol questions LOL. I am actually pretty excited about the potential range of this thing and the weight reduction/pack-ability you get over a normal rifle.
 
The custom shop made center-grip XP's in 7-08.
120 and 140 NBT's is what I used to use in mine.
42.0 of H-4894 with the 120's and 40.0 grains with the 140 grain NBT.
