Remington Customer Service!

All PM's received, and hopefully replied to. Let me knowif I missed anyone.

Like I said, I cannot promise anything, but I will be calling Remington in the morning, and if their "in", then I'll lay it all out for them.

He might just tell me to go jump in the lake, but I doubt it.

I'll keep you fellers posted as to what happens.

If it is o.k. with all of you, I'd just assume post my results in this thread instead of PM'ing each and every one of you.

I will be employing the "sqeaky wheel get's the grease" philosophy tomorrow.

Either way he now owns a 22 mag but has 1000 rounds of Win. 17hmr silvertip ammo that he can't use. I'll take that ammo off your hands.

I have the rem. 597 and the Magnum research 17 HMR.. I have'nt been shooting the Rem since i bought the magnum research... A couple of weeks ago i did have a problem with the M.R. when i fired it i had hot gas come out of the rim of the case and there was enough pressure there it also blew the clip out of the action.. I checked over the gun and made sure there was no damage and fired it a few more times and had no farther problems...I would say Rem. is correct buy saying the problem is in the ammo but i also believe there is a problem with the design of the bolt face on both rifles, there is'nt enough metal covering the rim of the case to keep the pressure in and thats why the cases are blowing out from the rim area.. There is'nt much they can do with the bolt but they could have the ammo loaded down a bit to reduce the pressure cause its to high for the semi-auto action..
I have'nt decided yet what to do with the Rem. but I'm going to send in the M.R. and have it rebarreled to 22 mag. free of charge...

While there are many sponsors that read our forums, there are some that do not. Some of our sponsors are business owners themselves, and some are the Parent Corporations. The parent corporations usually choose not to participate due to time and manpower.

They are very happy to sponsor our site, but often times do not get directly involved.

For messages, like this one, to get to "the right folks", it usually takes some effort.

I have intentionally NOT asked for negative comments regarding one of our sponsors to stop. Remington stepped up and became a sponsor, and if their customer service is lacking, well, they earned those comments same as if they were good comments.

I would ask that, in the future, if you have ANY problems with any of our sponsors, (the one's who don't participate), please just let me know, and I'll do what I can to let the right folks know that you are less than satisfied. While I cannot make you any sort of promises, I can promise that I will make sure you are heard by the right people.

TA, I sure wish mine was a Magnum Research. Clearly a company that stands behind their product and values their customers.

Oh by the way who here knows what the only piece of JD equipment the folks at John Deere would not stand behind?

I just called and left a message for Al Russo of Remington. I will keep you guys posted as to the results of our discussion when he calls me back.

Jeff

DoubleCK, that's easy the same one I wouldn't stand behind, no matter what brand. Bad enough just filling the darn things.

I guess Al doesn't want to discuss this issue.

Guess I'll throw my 2 cents worth in. I own a 597 heavy barrel laminate stock 17 hmr. The dealer cost for this rifle was $497.00. I beleive that remington listed msrp was right at $600.00. If remington believes I need to take over a $250.00 hit on this problem, it gives me great pause for a future remington purchase! A company that gives this kind of customer service probably won't last much longer, but who knows maybe 597 owners are a small enough crowd they can afford to lose us

Some lessons are learned the hard way. Guess I'll keep mine as a conversation piece. I for sure am not giving it back at half price.

For my 02 cents, I'm just going to keep mine and continue feeding it ammo. Still waiting to see if Remington returns the call.

Sounds like you may be taking a fairly big chance by still feeding the thing John... I think I'd put it in the cabinet and wait to see what Rem says. IMHO it's not work taking some debris to the face over.

Just a thought... to each his own I guess.

John56, As we choose not to stand behind that certain farm implement. We might want to use the same caution with our 597 HMR Crap Shooters.

(-: Sorry, couldn't resist.

True on both counts. What keeps bothing me about this is, Remington has not sent me anything in writing on what the problem is, even though they have my warranty card information. Their recall notice simply states you may send it back (597) for a coupon. I've run several rounds from different lots through the chronograph and takin rounds apart, forming my own ideas of what is going on.

S&W has at least notified me of a recall of their PPK, what the problem was, how they would fix it and the shipping lable to get it to them. They also tuned it a little while they had it.

So two days lack of response, 58 posts and just shy of 1000 views is telling me remington just doesn't care about this. They have their money.

I also never recieved the notice from remington as my card was also sent it.

remington in one fast move here could reach a lot of people and perhaps try to help out their image but looks more like it will not happen.

Thanks for the effort Jeff!
