do they shoot? i know primers are expensive, but they are available. does anyone here shoot one? tell me what you know about them. the rifles are pretty cheep. lee

Pretty much of a dead issue. I don't believe Remington is marketing them anymore. It might have been one of those good ideas, but just before it's time. The mechanics give them an ultra-fast lock time, but most folks believe they were introduced in both the wrong calibers and to the wrong market.

If this had been something conducive to really increasing the accuracy of rifles you would be seeing it on bench rest rifles and it's not appeared there at all.

Just traded one I bought on sale at half price, traded it in on a savage .308, It was sure a good lookin gun but the primers Xpensive , dont think that the accuracy could be that much better than astandard firing pin with a good trigger, took a big loss on the trade but at least I dont have to worry about losing a key or dead batteries!!!

You would rather have 2 mother-in-laws, you think the primers are expensive now, wait another 5 years. That is if they are still available then.

Problem was they did not introduce affordable primers with the guns. The extra accuracy and benifit of having an Etronix rifle would only be appreciated by reloaders for the most part. When we could not get primers, not worth it. If Rem would have made primers available fromthe start at a reasonable price, I think they would still be available. a few years ago, Rem gave a bunch of ammo with each gun, but still no primers until later.

My two bits and my personal opinion.

I'm wondering if an Etronix can be converted to standard ignition with a bolt and trigger change /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

me also.

I'm confused, why would somebody want one of these now? The price of these rifles on Gunbroker is about $600. If there is a conversion to standard ignition, this would add to the price. For $700 there are plenty of good rifles out there.

The Entronx ammunition is not cheap and the shortened lock time can't make that much of a difference in the field.

Just curious.
