remington hevi shot

has anyone used the remington hevi shot for predators i saw it on the net i killed a 22# tom @ 65 yards last spring 3 1/2" 12 ga qoul like to find some for predators if you know where they are available at please reply

I've seen Hevi-shot up to size B at Gander Mtn. I may have to try some of that but would like to see it in size F or T. I had read some rumor about some new loadings in a size between 4 buck & the waterfowl loads.

I have looked at the hevishot loads but who can afford that stuff??!! $16 for ten rounds? i wont even pay that for high power loads. Ill get closer or whatever before i spend that kind of cash on ammunition.

i thought that too until last spring when the 22# tom wouldn't work any closer that was my last chance last day and all dropped him in his tracks 65 yards $2 for that shell meant the difference between hunting for 3 weeks and killing one or going home empty handed pretty cheap for me

We tried some lead 2's once and they were pretty fair. I think the heavy shot in that size or larger would work out just fine. Most of the better sporting goods store are carryying the heavy shot now. Especially the ones catering to waterfowl hunters. Jimmie

In a recent Cabela's catalog I noticed that they had the Hevi shot in size BB, which should be the perfect size for coyote. The problem right now is in "which choke tube do I use?". Most choke tube makers are advising against shooting hevi shot through their tubes. There are only one or three companies offering tubes made special for the hevi shot. I have a feeling that a tube made for "steel" shot, in a "modified" choke model would be safe enough for large hevi shot, and would likely throw a decent pattern. Time will tell the story. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Remington makes a Hevi Shot choke tube I saw one just for the first time the other day in a Dicks Sporting Goods. I knew Briley had made one but that was the first of which I have seen from Remington.

Well here in Pa the largest shot size allowed for predators isBB lead, BB bismuth-tin and T steel, I don't know about coyotes with it but I just got some Remington SP BBx2 Duplex shells I have used #2's 2 3/4 for a long time but these seem to expand my long shots about another 20 yrds give or take. I can say that for those who want to try the hevi shot please do, and Personally I can say I didn't worry about a different choke tube, I use the 3" mag #1 and BB for ducks and the 3 1/2 T shot for geese and I think its safe to say that this yr I probably shot more at ducks with that stuff than most people would fire in a couple yrs at predators ( and if i'm wrong I wanna come hunt with you) and have had no problems with gun, chokes, or pattern I am mostly using the factory Benneli mod tube.

My only and LAST experience with heavy shot: I took a rookie with me and put a shotgun in his hands loaded with #2 heavy shot. Called in a coyote, he came up to about 35 yards from us, told my buddy to shoot. He shot, coyote yelped and fell back into some standing corn...Never saw him again. We looked and looked...dog-gone. Don't know. It might have been a poorly placed shot...But this guy is an experienced hunter. It was just his first time at coyote hunting. At any rate, no more heavy shot for me. In fact, that was my first and last time to use a shotgun at all on coyotes.

I don`t think you can get the Predator Heavy-Shot yet. When it does finally get in the stores I`m going to buy some.Remington has been advertising it for some time now but has not started selling it yet.I can`t wait to see that piture of the coyote on the Heavy-Shot box.
