Remington model 7 predator

It is easy to identify because of the adjustment screw that goes thru the trigger Kevin

I thought the XMark started with external adjustment and those without were pre XMarks or standard triggers. I'll have to look them up to see how they were made.

In the new 2011 catalog they list the .223 Predator with a 1-12" twist. Last year they were a 1-9"...hope its a typo which wouldn't surprise me considering its loaded with them.

Their website list the Predator in 223 as having a 1 in 9" twist. When I was looking at the 700 series they one had two flavors with the 9 twist. One was their highend Tac model with the x40 trigger and B&C stock, the other the VTR. I wasn't sure I wanted the new triangle barrel but I wanted the faster twist and didn't want to spend $2000 on a 223. Now that I have it and put some lead down range I'm glad I bought the VTR. Pertty sweet rig for the price really.

I did some checking on the XMark pro trigger and found 2009 was the first year they put out the adjustable model with the top end pull of 5 lbs, set to 3.5 lbs from the factory. The surface pressure points are polished and the adjusments are external. I agree, just based on what I read, the new 2009 XMark trigger is much better then the old one.

I wonder how anyone could fing fault with the XMark, now I understand. They likely had he old XMark. I don't see how you could make a beter factory trigger then the new XMark. To me it seems Remington just keeps getting beter every year.

I like remington, but some things they do doesn't make sense. Like discontinuing the model 700 LVSF. very dumb in my opinion.

I had the LVSF in a .17 Rem. The complaint I had was the blind box mag would allow the shells to get cocked and jam while trying to load. And to empty every round had to be cycled through the gun. It shot nice though.

I have to agree with you. I have an LVSF in 243, and it is one of the most accurate rifles I've ever seen. I don't really like the stainless barrel for predator hunting, particularly on a bright day, but it is a shooter for certain.

Why in the world would they do that? That's crazy.

I seen that too... Really been considering getting one in 22-250.

My brand new Model 7 Predator 17 Fireball is sitting at Remington to be fixed... Bolt is all messed up right out of the box. Joke trying to get anywhere with them. They dont give a crap about "the customer"

Remington does do some very dumb things for some reason. They discontinued the lvsf, vsf, model 7 xcr, and now the predator?? They dont offer any of their varmint rifles in a 243 except the vls. They only offered it in that etronx. Seems like they are trying to go tactical now. Seems they have plenty of 223 or 308 only rifles. Im a remington guy but its getting sad. Savage looks better and better every day.

Well, I called Remington today. The rep I spoke to said that in his literature it did show 2011 pricing for the model 7. It seems they are going to offer only 3 calibers: 223, 22-250, and 243. They are changing the 223 to a 1/12 twist - which I personally think is a mistake - but that's just my opinion though.

I hate to hear of the big green Rs troubles, they've been on a down hill slide for a while now and since that big holding company has bought them (and sevral others) they've made some unfavorable descisions, its all about the dollar with them.

Remington Model 7 predator chambered in .223 brand new for my 11yr old son and am having trouble getting the rifle to group. First three shots scatter over 8 inches. It will keep dropping south west until the third or fourth shot, then begins to shoot somewhat of a group. Same thing the following day. Something heats a little and tightens up. Figure I am going to have to free float the barrell and possibly bed the action. Have read some of your previous stuff and thought I might gather some info before starting. First time to ever use a site like this...Figure that a guy could visit with a lot of knowledgeable folks!
