Remington Model 7 ?

Lately I have been eyeing the Remington Model 7s in 223 or .17 Fireball. I would be interested to hear personal experiences with these rifles. How are they on average in terms of accuracy?
Thanks.
Matt

I have a Model 7 w/ a Douglas Featherweight (#1 contour)21 " stainless steel barrel in 22/250 that is very accurate...had this built in 1992-2000 [don't ask why it took that long!] cause remington didn't offer the mod. 7 in 22/250 when I bought the barreled action in 7/08.

My custom barrel is a very accurate, lightweight set-up.

I can't speak to the factory ones, cept' years ago the ones in 7/08 shot very well (per acquaintenances' account...)

I have 4 , one in 308 , 243 , 22-250 , 223 , All factory barrel , did add brake to the 308, But they all shoot really good , if u get one u wont b dissapointed , very light , very accurate.

I have the M7 Predator .243, it is finicky but with loads it likes it will shoot very well.

My son has a Model 7FS (factory camo stock) in a 7mm08. It's very accurate and nice rifle to pack about without a lot of weight.

I also have a 243 stainless that shoots good too.

Personally, I like the model 7s.

I have Model Sevens in .223 and 300 SAUM, used to have a 7-08/. Other than the 300 SAUM, I don't know that much about current production (quality, accuracy, etc.,)but I don't think you can find an out of the box rifle for the money that is as handy, accurate, and been around as long as Rem's Sevens. I really don't think you would be disappointed with one. Love the .223 but can't speak to the .17 Fireball, I do wish I could find one in the Rem. 17. Good luck with it.

I have a Model 7 in 260 Rem, amd 223. They both shoot very well. The only bad thing with my 223 is the twist in the barrel. Im not sure if they come with different twist, but 55s are the heaviest I can get to group.

A 55 gr. SP will work just find at putting a coyote down.

To me the 40 and 45 gr. bullets are to lite for coyotes and anything over 60 gr. is getting to heavy to use on coyotes in a 223.

But that just me.

I have a Model 7 CDL in 223 that I got new, for a VERY good price. Just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Mine shoots 3 shots into 1/2" groups with ease. I use a Weaver V-16 set at 16X for testing loads with this rifle.
No compalint from me about the Model 7, and I can see how guys get hooked on them. They are short, light weight, and balance perfectly. Mine has the 20" barrel too.

The only complaint I've seen issued generally was the older guns with the three hole scope mounting system and the small area of receiver to get a base on. The DNZ bridge mount is perfect for those three hole M7's and the Talley 2-pc Lightweights are perfect for the newer four hole receivers. Problem solved...

I have a mod 7 CDL in 17fireball, I have owned other mod 7's and have had no problems with them but I could not get this gun to shoot. I have tried all the 17 cal bullets from Hornady,Berger I've tried Kindler Golds, Nagels with powders from RL10 to IMR8208 we have had different scopes on it re crowned the barrel bedded it in a HS stock then finally gave up and ordered a Pac-nor .17 cal 9 twist SSM barrel and sent it off to Bob Green to have the action trued and rebarreled in 17 fireball. Again I've had good luck with other mod 7's just not this one.
The throat was so long the 27gr Kindlers would almost fall out of the case before touching the lands and the Xmark trigger was about 5lbs on my Lyman trigger pull gauge we replaced it with a Jewell but it didnt help the gun group better it still shot 2-3" groups but with a really nice trigger. I really like this little gun but out of the box this was one of the worst guns I've run across.
Our local Gander Mountain has a couple of them in the used rack I was thinking maybe a few others might not have shot to well.
It will be a great little varmint rifle when it comes back about perfect for a walking varminter.

My Dad has one in .22-250. We took it out to zero it at the range and it shot very well. Trigger was a little much for me, but that is easily adjusted. If I wasn't already working on Model 660 in .220 Swift I would have tried to trade him out of it.
