So i am new to the AR guns myself. i recently have purchased my first AR-15 and it was the Remington R-15 VTR Carbine. I could really use some advice on parts for this rifle please. First thing is i can't seem to find a front sling bolt/swivel for the rifle. It was removed before i got the gun. It does still have the factory free float forend. But the thread pitch seems to be hard to find. I want t mount a bipod and need the bolt. Secondly. I was to have iron sights also on this rifle along but the problem is seeing as i have a free float forend and no picatinny rail on the front of the forend and must have a low profile gas block to allow for removal of the forend is there anyone who makes a gas block with a rail on top. Or i just thought does anyone make one that bolts on and does not use tapered pins? if so hot do i make sure the sights i buy will line up front to the back? Thank for any help or advice

Sounds like you jumped on the first deal you came across. The good p art is the AR platform is customizable for just about any style of shooting and shooter. I'm not a fan off the camo AR but I hear good things about the R15. I suggest getting a different float tube something with a quad trail. Then you can add sights lights bi pods our anything else you want. If the sights and stud are the biggest issues your not r to bad off. Just do some looking and upgrade parts as fund become available

Well I was in the market for an AR when this one came my way. I got it for one [beeep] of a deal that no one could pass up trust me. But it's not that I want to add a ton of extras just want to add a bi pod and have iron sights should I have scope problems or break my scope. Also here in ohio we usually don't get to shoot very long ranges for hunting so I scope is not a must for me. I wanted a gas block that I can still remove my forend with out removing the gas block. Something short enough to go through . Or if there is a easily removable gas block that isn't peened in with pins and it's not hard on the gun to remove is a few times a year for cleaning.

You can put any machined threaded stud on your tube for a bipod. I would buy one w/a nut and drill that threaded one out and BAM...done with a stud. Heck put 2 if needed, that's easy as drinking water. I did that one the R15 I had.
DPMS has the gas block you might want with rail on top. Hit up Joe bobs, midwayusa, Amazon or even wally Mart if they carry guns, they will carry AR15 add on junk also.
To add a rail, drill & tap holes where needed (after getting rail & holes marked)& screw on rail.

Thanks guys for all the help. And add on junk I don't understand??? If I'm asking for just please enlighten me here. Just looked for what it seems I need to add iron sights and bi pod. It seems that the good bi pods are pica tinny rail mounted

Add on junk is all the crud many stores sell for the "tactical" look, wasn't meant that's what yer doing. Stud mounted bipods are not "bad", rail mounted are not "bad", either one is good.

Brownells has a variety of sling studs that are adaptable to your needs...They are easy to install whether on free float or standard hand guards....I installed one on both of mine and each are different...

Yankee Hill Machine, as well as many other suppliers have a variety of gas blocks with various rail configurations and sizes..

You didn't necessarily get a bad firearm, just one that was not spec'ed out to what you want...They are easy to modify to your preferences, one of the reasons they are sometimes referred to as LEGO weapons...
