Remington XP-100 owners - your ideal caliber is. . . ?

i really want one( xp100 , xp100r or a striker) here in ma for night hunting we are reduced to .22 caliber or less rimfires rifles, shotguns and pistols .38 caliber or less which opens the door to most any cal pistol....just waiting on a good deal....

i have a bone stock 7mm br. i have taken 5 cow elk and mule deer with it. it has a 4x leupold pistol scope on it. it has shot sub moa, and i am sure with some effort would shoot one hole. i just shot it last weekend as i am taking it to minnesota to hunt deer this weekend. i shot 5 3 shot groups that are right around 1" with no effort at all.
the 7mmbr is probably not the best choice for varmints, but it does a number on elk, 3 of the 5 dropped in their tracks the other 2 went less than 75 yards with 130gr sierra specialty pistol bullets. all the shots but one were very well placed.
mine is a mid-grip, plastic stock, 15-3/8" barrel single shot. i have fancied a smaller bore custom one for years, one of these days i will get one. probably a 223 with nice wood.
i was given a check by my dad for christmas back in about 1991, i spent it all on my xp-100. i have never changed the setup since. great gun.

+1 The 221 Fireball is great. I also have the other one in 35 Remington. I shoot 158gr 357 bullets in it. They both shoot so well. I like them just the way they are.
