Removing putty after bedding?

Any tricks for getting plumbers putty all cleaned up from the stock after glass bedding? There has to be a better method than picking at it with tooth picks and screw drivers. Maybe a tooth brush and qtips saturated with something that will dissolve the putty and not the marine tex or finish? WD40, clenzoil, acetone, rubbings alcohol?

I always use Play Doh. Comes off pretty easy. I have never used plumbers putty. I also have some small chisels for working wood the gets in tight places pretty good.

I would never use plumber's putty, that's meant to stay. Next time use modeling clay. And no, I am not aware of any easier way than digging it out with whatever tools are at hand.

I use Play Doh also. I have a set of dental picks. You can sometimes get them from a dentist or dental tech as they throw the worn ones out. A set of carving chisels work very good cleaning up bedding compound also.

I have used modeling clay in the past. It is just as hard to clean up. I ended up using wd40 with a toothbrush and Qtips. It really helped get the last of it out of there.

Same here, although if you coat the interior of the stock (I use Johnson's Paste Wax) where the putty is going, it's easier to come back out.
