Replacement stock for Howa 1500?

I have been reading more than posting on this board, what a wealth of info you guys have here.

I want to replace the original stock on my long action Howa
1500 in 30.06 caliber.

Most of the replacement stocks offered are only offered with
the Weatherby stock with the raised comb (Monte Carlo like).

The only one I have found with a straight comb is this stock:

I did not find a HS Precision stock available and buying a McMillan stock I find is a little over the top for this rifle
which is my general hunting rifle.

Any other options which I overlooked? I did look at B&C stocks
but again only stocks with the raised comb was available.

Thanks,

Paul

BigBird, yes I did check out Boyds as well. However, those stocks
weigh 2.8 pounds per stock compared to the Hogue which weighs
a little over 2 pounds. I would like a composite replacement
stock though and not a laminated one.

Take a look at stockysstocks.com. They have a good selection. B&C makes a nice offering in what your looking for.

At any rate, the Hogue are a love hate type of stock. I have one on a m700. I like it. It works well and make shooting more comfortable.

i like the hogue as i dont like the weatherby style stocks that the B&C Medalist comes in. i have a Boyds Pepper laminate that is nice, but dont need, so if you decide to go that route shoot me a PM and ill cut you a deal (i know, cheap plug

bigsky songdogs, no problem offering your stock for sale.
I am going to buy a Hogue and report back how it shoots.

Thank you for the replies,

Paul

Mikkel,

I did have to open the bbl channel on mine a bit. It was touching one side of the bbl. After I did, it tightened up the groups and made it more repeatable. Just FYI
