Review: Hornady Cam Lock Bullet Puller

I have about 1000 rounds of .223 rounds to break down because they where neck length sized and they won't chamber in the AR. I borrowed a kinetic hammer style puller from a buddy. I did about 200 at about one round a minute, and making a mess with powder flakes all over the bench. I ordered a Hornady Cam Lock puller from Midway USA and got it today. I pulled about 150 rounds in about 20 minutes. That included setup of the die. It worked so well. Unbelievable! No mess, no fuss, nothing. Put the cartridge in the shell holder raise the ram slightly till you feel the bullet bump the plunger collet, hold the cam lever down a little, lower the ram, release the cam lever take your bullet out (it practically falls out in your hand) take shell out of holder and dump powder, start the next cycle.

I give it a BIG two thumbs up!

Wish I had mine. Ordered one and a collet from Hornady; no issues / problems. Received shipping email about a week later. Yes the puller shipped, but not the collet which is on back order. What good is receiving part of the puller?
Customer service tips for Hornady.
Don't take a week to ship.
Provide product availability during the ordering process.
Ask the customer if they still want the item , and especially if they want part of an item.

That's to bad bakerboy. I ordered mine from Midway USA and got it in 4 days. They told me right over the phone that the product was in stock as I ordered each piece.

+1

Best bullet puller on the market!

Since the question wasn't posed or the answer indicated.... When the bullet is recovered, it will sometimes have a slight indentation ring from the collet......

It will not affect your accuracy for re-use...at least, it hasn't mine...but then, I don't lay into the cam lever very hard..

i would really like to get one as i got some to pull but Midway dont show a collet for my 25-06..they got 243 and 260 but no 25 caliber for the hornaday

Well that makes me feel a lot better then think im gonna get me one...i have right now over 200 that i have to pull in some way and reseat them cause i was a retard and got my measurements mixed up...and all i have is a kenetic puller...hope i can get it all done with that for now....but im gonna order me one of the hornaday ones

I have an RCBS puller, but aint real happy with it.. I was in SLC this weekend and Gallensens had the puller on sale for $15.. No collets though. Found all the collets at Cabelas. I have broken 2 of the hammer type pullers over the years.. FWIW all the stores I went to seemed to have more reloading stuff than in the past.. Everything except Nosler .224 60 gr ballistic tips.. Cabelas had lots so loading stuff, and so did Gallensens..

My wife has banned the use of the kinetic puller as my bench is directly above the TV room so I have one on the way. Midway has the puller and all the collets in stock.

You just need to teach her how to use the volume control...

I have an RCBS collet bullet puller and love it. The Hornady cam lock puller is great also. Both use the same principle to grab the bullet , a collet. I can see where the Hornady one would be a hair faster to use over the RCBS. The art to pulling bullets with either one is to use only the amount of grip needed to pull with out disfiguring the bullet.

A much needed tool for reloading.
