Richard Cronk:

Yep, pretty good ol dude. He still has call making tutorials up on here in places. It’s crazy to think about how old this forum is and the guys that have come and gone.

I went calling with him several times. I remember he told me that he had called in and shot 6 coyotes before the sun came out. He also did a lot of trapping. Coyotes were his game. He was full of information and backed it up with experience. He sold calls in many different countries. He made one for me for locating Rock Chucks. I can't even hear it with my hearing. Since I got my hearing aids I might try it again if I can find the call. Rich died years ago already and I miss his company.

I considered Rich a friend. Rich and I moderated the Calling in the East forum together for a while. I asked him for a mini-howler, as it would fit in a pack more easily than the more usual howlers on the market back then. Rich made a couple, and I field-tested them for him, and he tweaked them after I made a few suggestions. These were fantastic calls for the guy who hiked in to his stands long distance. Rich was one of those old-school guys who started on the Shade Tree forum, which eventually morphed into Predator Masters. Those were the days...

Yep who could forget Ol’ quarter bore. I miss him too.We had many a discussion about Calibers and Calls. He was definitely one of the good ones for sure. To many of them have passed on.

Good Hunting Chad

I have a Cronk Buffalo howler I don’t use and was thinking about selling it. But have no idea on pricing. Any ideas?

Turns out, before I started hunting, I lived 5 minutes from him. After I moved away, I started hunting and was in town in 2008 and he had me stop by to pick up some calls. Chatted with me for a bit. Very welcoming and happy to talk coyote hunting. Will never forget his kindness and generosity. I think I still have one of his calling cassettes along with the calls I bought from him. Gone, but never forgotten...
