Richards Microfit Stocks

Anyone do business with this company before? Experience good and bad also CS issues if any.

I am starting a build based on a Remington 660 action. I have a certain affection for the 600/660 and enough stubbornness in me to do the build. Finding a quality aftermarket stock is proving to be a challenge. McMillan will make one for $700.00 but the budget won't allow for that. Not many choices in laminate stocks inlet for the 600 action either.

Richards will inlet the 660 in any model and any color laminate. Seems like a good option.

They tend to be rather slow on delivery, unless you order something that they have in stock. I've heard complaints over the years, but the stocks I've gotten from them have been totally acceptable, and as ordered.

I've finished 2 of them, both were AA or AAA wood. The inlets were done reasonably well, but I wish it would have been slightly smaller to allow more fitting. The outside look like a drunk beaver cut them out, but both ended well. However the both orders were some what wrong and they took forever to get, well past eh original ship dates.

Your Boyd's option is Semi-Inlet but the ones I've seen didn't look like a "drunk beaver" had widdled them haha! They still require final fitting and finishing...

My experience with them was not pleasant. Took way more time than promised and the stock did not fit the barreled action. Instead of sending it back I tried fixing the problem and ended up eating my purchase. I will not deal with them again.

Was the stock just not workable?

I bought a stock from them. They said it would take about 8 weeks and that's about what it took. It would have been nice if they had sent me a notice when it shipped along with a tracking number. The stock required some fitting and a lot of sanding, but that's kind of what I expected. I liked the design of their thumbhole stock better than Boyds and the price was pretty reasonable. There's a good chance that I will order from them again. It turned out great.

I requested a stock for a Ruger 77/22Mag with the heavy barrel. What I received was a stock for the regular barrel. Because of the amount of wood that had to be trimmed I thought I could simply raise the action in the stock and make it work. Bad move as I then was faced with redoing the bedding on the action. Got aggravated with myself for attempting that and gave up on the project. It also took over 3 months to receive the stock.
I know some folks including one of my friends had good experience with them so I can't just say forget them but in my case once was enough.
