Rifle Basix vs. Timney

I have a stevens 200 in 223 rem. still with factory trigger. I would like to replace it for a lighter pull weight and less creep. I don't have any experience with either brand of triggers (rifle basix and timney). They seem to be priced roughly the same so I'm just wondering will one have an advantage over the other?

I've always like Timney better, if they make one for the particular gun. I had back luck with a RB trigger, then they said I had to adjust the stock(file) some to fit it. I have Timneys in an AR, 10/22, springs in A-Bolts, & a 700 trigger in a Model 7.

The Sharp Shooter Supply replaces the whole trigger, you only reuse the bolt release.
The other two still use the sear from your original. They just have a sear adjustment screw.
They are similar to an old savage 3-screw trigger.

I have a timney on my ruger hawkeye 25-06 and love it. The rb is poor quality and the sharp shooter supply from what i read in reviews is a very nice one as well.

Have you considered a factory 3-screw trigger? I use one in a Stevens .308 Win. The trigger was tuned by Jim Briggs at Northland Shooter Supply. Cost me about $40 to get it here. Pull is crisp and about 2/5 #. Jim is a vendor on the Savage Shooters site. If you are interested, PM me for contact info.

I talked with Jim the other day. He has no more 3-screw triggers. They were just left over triggers from the factory that he had when Savage switched over to the accutrigger.

I have three RB triggers and have had 0 problems. Customer service is second to none. Two friends had the Sharp Shooter triggers and both failed about the same time. Can't say about the Timney's. RB triggers for me though.

Just one guys experience but the only Rifle Basix trigger I purchased was supposedly adjustable but when I had trouble adjusting it and called RB, the owner (who answers the phone personally) read me the riot act for messing with a trigger that "came from the factory adjusted perfectly". I was informed that I shouldn't have messed with it and that I bought the wrong model in the first place. When asked why they advertised a pull range for the triggers if they weren't really adjustable by the end user, he had no answer. Timney or Jewell for me.

I installed the SAV-2 on my Stevens in .243. Watched the DVD before the install and during the install. Not terribly difficult if you have basic mechanical ability. for added measure, take digital photos as you go along.

I have no experience with Timney trigger but hear theya re awesome. i am happy with the RB I installed.
