Yellowhammer Moderator Staff member Mar 5, 2012 #2 If you are using red led or red filters, a red dot may not help much. Just get a scope that is clear for daytime use and gathers light well early and late, and it will be fine for calling with a light.

Gerhard New member Mar 5, 2012 #3 I am hunting with a 2.5-10 x 56 IR Nikon Monarch. The scope gives me the option of a red dot or a green dot in the cross hair. I preffer green as the red is just to bright for hunting during the night. The dot has helped in a couple of instances where a jackal popped out of long grass or brush unexpectedly and I had to make a fast snap shot. The moment the dot is on target the Varmint Grenade is running down range...
