Rifle Suppressors

Not much power or range.
I'm not 100% sure you would get your bullets to expand much.
I've thought about it, just haven't tried it yet.
Incredibly quiet though!

ETA:
Grizz, do you plan on getting a thread on version?

You don't register the firearm as it can be used on multiple guns. File the forms, pay the stamp and in a few months you can pick it up from your dealer.

I have been doing a lot of research lately as I am in the process of purchasing my first suppressor right now. I am going with a Thunder Beast 30P-1. This is a fairly affordable can in the 1k range and offers solid repeatability and accuracy. That was my selling point as this will be used on my range gun since I can't hunt with it...yet. It can be used on anything up to a 300 win mag, with better noise reduction on the smaller calibers. Take a look at this company before you decide. They are designed and built by a good group of local guys(to me) who shoot their products and stand by them.

most of the time i'm running em hot... simply because where i'm located, most of the time, the opportunity presents itself to take a further shot than the subs would allow...although i do carry an integrally suppressed 9mm, running 147XTP's about 1000ish, great lil back up if you get a dog 50yds or closer... here is a bit more info i posted on another forum a while back about whether or not a coyote will stick around if you call in a double or triple or even miss while using a suppressor : Originally Posted By: skinneyIt doesn't matter... where i'm from, i called in 5 the other day and nailed one, they don't stick around suppressed or not, BUT if you have a relatively close shot under 100M the bullet doesn't have much time to make a sonic crack especially in the snow (very muffled) and the dogs that are gun shy that are 1/4 mile or further that don't know you are there, it wont bother (depending on landscape its pretty rough where i hunt), last year i put the sneak on a dog sleepin on a drift, got within 75M and zipped him, walked a quarter mile further up the draw to find another one sleeping, zipped him as well. with this being said i am going to test subsonic ammo next yr, thinking about a whisper but want a smaller cal ( that cycles) so less damage is done to the fur, i may tote my suppressed 9mm AR, got a sub load that cycles with 147gr hollows should work well with dogs closer than 50M.

As mentioned any “silenced” rifle must be registered in the National Firearms and Transfer Record as defined in the National Firearms Act and in federal law (27 CFR Part 479) and a permit issued to that person. A photocopy of approved permit should be carried by the owner when the weapon is being transported. Colorado statute defines a “silenced” firearm as a dangerous weapon and it illegal to possess with a couple of exceptions such as having a permit (Title 18, Article 12, C.R.S.)

to some it might be, but its really not that big of deal, you can photocopy your form 4, shrink it down in size, say 50% of the original (i've seen them smaller), get it laminated and stick it in your gun case, heck you can print out a few and put em in all the places you feel necessary!!!

I have never hunted with a can as it is illegal here. However I do know that if you are down range of a suppressed rifle being fired the sonic boom seems to come from the opposite way as the shooter, ( behind you ) so my question is, does this register the same to a yote as it does a human, "the boom came from over there, so I need to go over here, right straight to the shooter.

In my limited experience and from talking with my buddy who has killed quite a few more with a suppressor. You have a 50/50 chance of them running towards you. More of it is probably dictated by things such as terrain, direction currently moving, visual movement, etc...

YMMV

Frank,

I have a Nikon P300BLK scope mounted on my CMMG 300blk upper. It has BDC adjustments on both turrets for super and subsonic rounds. I have 3 uppers that I shoot from one bang up Sun Devil lower (Magpul SRS stock, Giselle 2 stage comp trigger 1.5lb/3.5lb). My uppers are a .223 with 24" stainless BB, a .204 Ruger with same barrel but fluted, and the 300blk. Each has its own scope and Caldwell bipod. But to your point, the 300blk scope is amazing. I have shot both sub and super rounds at 100yds (DNR range is only local and 100yd max) but once zeroed, I am shooting 1/2" groups with both rounds. The scope is 2X7 magnification and you can find it on Optics Planet for $199 and free shipping. I also have Nikon's P223 on a little Bushy carbine that shoots like a champ. It also has BDC. Good Luck and hope you give the AR platform a shot. Very versatile and accurate even with middy priced components. I didn't skimp on my primary AR, but the Bushy is all stock except the scope.

Who makes the better/best based on dbl reduction and durability?

I should add, the best for a working man on a budget, less than $1,000.

I ended up with the YHM 762 Ti. The titanium version is lighter and still has in inconel blast baffle which should give it some durability. You can mount QD flash hiders on all your rifles and get by with the one can as mentioned already.

They usually sell for around $800 so if you add your $200 stamp fee you are still at your $1k budget. (It will come with one QD flash hider mount)

Buy it and forget about it.....both of my suppressors took 7 months to process.

Is there a chart or reference for calibre gun --- surpressor that coincides.. Also if it's going on a AR 15 is there a difference in suppressors ?? Will the surpressor possibly effect the gas system when cycling rounds??

I am still on my long wait. I have 3 on the way and I will be hunting both big game and small game with mine. I do a lot of yote hunting around farms. Plus at night as well. The 300blk with a sub load is going to be great for this type of hunting.

i use a can on every gun i shoot, personally i never shoot without one.

here is a quick vid of the O2 Hurricane XL Ti in action... ENJOY!!!

skinney. Thanks for posting such great info. I see this is an old post, so is it possible for you to recommend newer suppressors. I mostly will be using it on 22-250 and .243.
Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your time.

I think either the Thunder Beast Arms Company Ultra 7 for 6.5 or the SAS Barricade would be the two best choices to cover both your 22-250 and .243 I'm a big fan of TBAC suppressors but I did recently purchase a SAS Barricade because the deal on it was just to good to pass up. Both TBAC and SAS make extremely good products and you can't go wrong with either. Good luck with your purchase and I'm certain you'll love it!
