Smart man.....22WMR's a great round.....especially since they came out with the poly tipped bullets that give them a bit more accuracy for shooting small critters....I'd stick with the ol Winchester Silver Box HP's for small game though.....
If you have to rule out CZ another suggestion that nobody talks about these days but is kind of the quintessential "truck gun" is a good lever action with a peep sight....I just happen to have a little Henry Frontier model with a Williams peep in 22WMR that's as accurate as any 22m I've ever fired out to 75-80 yrds......
Light weight.....fast handling.....quick follow up shots.....holds ten rounds....and reliable as the sun coming up in the morning.....
I have a pile of pix of animals I've taken with mine from Bobcats to Coon to Ground Squirrels at 80yrds that I'd post for ya but I haven't been able to access my photobucket account in a month or more.....
Henry just came out with a sweet little octagon barreled carbine with Skinner sight that's worth a look.....
(Don't let the MSRP scare you, like most guns you can find em for considerably less)
