Ripped off tail halfway

While trying to rush I accidentaly ripped half my coyote tail off while skinning. I'm going to send the fur to USA Foxx to tan it and flesh it. Is it alright ti sew it before they flesh it or will the stitches come out? Any other way to do this?

can you get another yote, or is this one special to you? chances are that if you sew the tail back on, the fleshing blade will cut the stitches, and you will have to re-sew it.

...or if the tail stitches come off during the tanning process you may never get the end back just because the big tanning places do these in big lots, not one at a time. Good luck.

Wouldn't be that big of a deal but this one is destined for my sons wall because he was with me on his first hunt and we connected on it. He wouldn't know if it was a different tail but I would, might bug me. I'll have to decide what to do soon, gonna send it out pretty quick.

thanks, Jim

Maybe try to tan it yourself, or send the main part of the hide in for tanning, and do the tail yourself then sew it back on when the hide comes back from the tannery...

Pick up the phone and call USA Foxx and see what they say. Might be worth explaining your story and maybe they can do something to up the odds of a successful tan. Good luck.
