River Bottom Hunting

Here in Ky., I am mainly hunting ridgelines, wooded and clear. Seems to me that over the years I have had better luck calling them uphill to the edges of the woods. I is real hard to call them out in the open especially after a month of deer seasons. Do any of you guys hunt the river bottoms where there are grown up drains that lead away from the river? I have never tried it but I would think that coyotes would scavenge the river banks. What do you think?

Stay away from the climber. I hunt around the Murray area and Paducah area. You can call coyotes out in the open in all terrain. The key is callin an area they are at. Coyotes really roam and pinpointing them is the key.

While not KY,,,I've spent most of my time hunting river bottoms along the MO river...We have a pretty extensive levee system and I generally crawl to the top side of a levee and glass a section along the open field and river side to see if I can find anything moving before ever finding a place to set up...

If I do, I'll work my way down wind of any activity and attempt to call them to me...Maybe a half mile or more...I've also worked along the bluffs, next to railroad tracks since there are a lot of animals that get injured by trains passing through...so animal cries are pretty common...I just try to stay on the downwind side of the area...but always watch my downwind area...
